This is a quick video to help if your car is throwing a P0500 code when you scan it.
You may not have any issues with your car, so I would first of all unplug the connector and re plug it a few times to clean up the contacts just in case it is a dry contact causing an intermittent issue.
When i had issues with mine it started with cruise control occasionally not working. I found it would come good again after stopping the engine and starting it again.
down the track I found that cruise would not work at all which was a bummer as i have to drive freeways each day to work.
I had no other symptoms. until I went for a trip up to Sydney to visit family.
While driving in traffic the car kept switching off, stop at the lights, any time I stopped it would turn off and would not idle unless i kept revving the motor.
That was not fun so Then I bought a genuine Mitsubishi speed sensor.
This fixed the VSS signal and the engine was back to normal operation.
My car is a 2009 CJ Lancer VRX with the 2.4 litre engine and 5 speed gearbox.
I would advise getting the Mitsubishi part as they will look up your VIN number to get the correct part, as I am not sure if other gearboxes or year model uses a variation of the sensor.
It is literally a 20 minute job with the right tools.
A flat blade screwdriver
A 10mm socket
Extension bar for ratchet handle for 10mm.
When removing one that has not been removed before it will be stuck in there so be careful trying to tap on it where the bolt goes through to get it loose.
Do put a little oil on the O ring on the new sensor for a good seal.
Happy repairs.
