Stroud is Qb1 in this draft if we’re all being honest and considering the track record of Bama qbs and 5’9 qbs. Stroud has all the check marks and most importantly in the league the bigger the stage the better he plays and that can’t be taught. You either got it or don’t and most don’t.

In my opinion the sack @21:50 is on the left tackle as they deemed his side the slide side of the protection the back to me is definitely dual 1 to 2 on the inside backers, what caused the sack was when the tackle sees the twist from the DE he sits hard on the DT and never got his eyes to 22

if anybody just watches this Georgia game, you'd come away wondering how on earth he isn't the consensus QB1. he put so much on tape in this game that we simply hadn't seen in his 2 years as a starter, so its up to scouts/GMs to decide if they believe he can do these things more regularly (off script plays, eluding pressure, etc). his decision making, accuracy, precision, placement, mechanics, etc are all amazing. but i dont think he has a huge track record of high level Anticipation throws or the off script ability we saw against georgia, which could at times make him a sitting duck in the pros waiting for a guy to clear open.

Bryce Young also torched the Georgia defense in the SEC championship game from the previous year. That was the Georgia defense that had 5 guys drafted in the first round. This was a really good game by Stroud, but I still sense that he is a bit mechanical. His OL gave him plenty of time, he hit a number of throws, but I'm not sure he will be able to consistently improvise and hit the tight windows as much as is needed in the NFL. I honestly think Justin Fields was a better prospect coming out, also had a steller CFP performance, and the NFL is still questioning whether he, Fields, has the passing ability to succeed. Bryce Young to me is the safer pick.
@daniekogivens5042
@daniekogivens5042 Жыл бұрын
It's odd to see him have such a good performance and come away with even more mixed feelings about him. No doubt he's an accurate and mobile QB, but I would have thought he would be under more duress with how good Georgia's defense is. The problem people have with Ohio State QBs is they have all day to throw, then they're throwing to a wide open 5⭐ WR. The thing that gives me pause with him as a prospect is how badly he grades under pressure. Obviously there were a few times he evaded pressure or was able to roll out and make a throw on the run, but so many of the plays showed there's no one in his face and he's throwing to someone college wide open. I'm not hating, just the whole "what he showed against Georgia" doesn't seem as translatable as I would have thought given all their NFL talent.

@@zenunderground Bryce playmaking succeed all of that. He doesn’t struggle over the middle of the field like Murray or Wilson + has their mobility and/or better pocket presence. We’re in the most QB friendly era of football considering the offense + league rules. Texans have one of the best pass blocking tackle duos in the league. The weight concern is the only thing that would deter me he’ll have to get bigger. Being under 200 pounds is a cause for concern but his height is no issue he’s proven that once again majority of his yardage came from the middle of the field which is the biggest knock for shorter QBs

I would love to see this same study done for Stetson Bennett. Their stat lines were almost identical -- same TD's ( one of Bennett's was a run ), same completions, same attempts, Bennett had an INT but 50 more yds, Bennett took fewer sacks. Yet, people were saying afterwards Bennett struggled and needed to improve and Stroud's performance was "legendary". Huh? Is there something the tape shows that the stat line misleads about? I'd say similar things about the comparisons between Bennett and Bryse Young -- same size, similar arm strength, similar stats, similar elusiveness, but people say Bryse is a potential 1:1 pick and Bennett is a 6th or 7th rd guy. What does the tape say?

What is the right thing? I think if they don't trade up to #1, neither Stroud or Young is going to be available at #4. Chicago is sticking with Fields, so if they don't auction that #1 pick they're insane. If Indy gets desperate at 4 and drafts a long shot project like Will Levis or Anthony Richardson, they could potentially be picking top 2 next year and take Caleb Williams or Drake Maye. If they don't trade up to draft Stroud or Young and they both go off the board, they should use the 4th pick on another position or trade down.

@@Don-md6wn I don't think when he throws a football it has any kind of more accuracy than Bryce young or quite a lot of QBs to be honest If you think he has elite accuracy I don't see it.. especially when you got to remember this guy's been throwing to some of the best wide receivers and has arguably the best offensive line in college football And it's not about can someone throw harder it's about how long it takes for you to throw a ball with accuracy and arm strength 50 yards down the field if you need a little bit more time that means you need a better offensive line That's why having a strong arm is important because I don't need as much time I don't need as much room to step into this throw to steal power the football 20 yd 30 yards 40 yd fifty yards or more down the field Which means our offensive line doesn't have to be the best and it also scares the defense because they know that even in a muddy pocket you can still crank out a strong accurate ball So arm strength is very important

i mean this in the best way possible but he reminds me of Daniel Jones and i think thats why people get carried away ranking QB's over him, even when he makes big time throws people don't really feel it. @@TheQBSchool yeah their motion is similar. its like with Allen or Mahomes theres this big dramatic flare, its off platform, but because there's less hip action with Daniel Jones, and a guy like CJ, and they rely on slotting that arm consistently well, its more textbook based with the footwork. That makes people think their arm isn't strong or even good, and they stop thinking those guys have upside. partly because they don't really understand winning from the pocket in an in-depth way. only this year have they given Jones Credit for how athletic he is, because until they were forced to, they didn't consider him an elite athlete. They would think nothing was good or worth developing about him, many still do. in the same way they don't see stroud as Mobile, they'll confuse his accuracy and touch with him not having a strong arm just because Will Levis or AR is more likely to drive a bullet through a window. There's a chance Stroud can hoodwink an ignorant front office into letting him drop to a good team. if ur not looking in the right places or evaluating specific key things you won't value stroud as highly, or even notice the true upside in his game.

But it is strong, he's just more accurate than a big power thrower. but they can't tell because of his mechanics, and athleticism are deceiving. a lot like Danny Dimes. People generally would rather have Levis or AR ideally than Jones or Stroud. but jones and stroud are better players and would kick their A** head to head. Many people in the league have no idea who or what a good QB actually is, there's a chance those people pass on Stroud and he drops and falls to a more stable organization.

Not unless Charlotte trades up into the top 2. Houston is going to draft Young or Stroud at #2, Chicago is likely going to trade the #1 pick to a team who will draft Young or Stroud. If Charlotte stays where they are, they'll probably have to reach for Levis or Richardson if they want a QB, which means they will need to keep Sam Darnold for at least another season or two because neither one of those guys is close to ready to start in the NFL.

He has another video breakdown on Levis. Should watch it. There's an enormous difference in Stroud's ability to throw and place the ball, and has infinitely better mechanics than Levis does. That has nothing to do with the surrounding cast. Levis gets all kind of defense because of his receivers, and people just overlook how he's easily as bad as the guys around him for large portions of games.

My question is where on that line do they each fall.
