JT, I know you're no hater. You've been giving CJ and the Texans their flowers all season. Appreciate both the breakdown and the honesty. Ravens were a buzzsaw that day. All respect due.

The left guard was NOT a left guard. He was a rookie center. The left guard was injured, his backup was injured, and when the starting right tackle came back from injury, he played left guard. In the meantime, Juice Scruggs, rookie center, was plugged in. All in all, the Texans put 11 different players on the line, and not once did the starting lineup play together. Too many injury-prone players, known before the draft to have been injured in college (but very talented), have come to Houston. We just hope they can find a way to stay healthy in '24. By the way, we lost George Fant, backup for Tytus Howard at right tackle, who played that position all season. Not good.

So what I gather is CJ is making the right decisions, Slowik calls a good game here, some slight blocking missed assignments, and missing 2 of top 3 WRs....with Diggs and Tank back next year with Nico and Noah Brown we should see Houston right back in this position with a chance for revenge
@Ian.langford8237 ай бұрын
In nearly every single play he shows that the play design worked and the WRs got wide open but the protection fell apart immediately so CJ didn't have time. Not to mention all of the O-Line penalties. Unfortunately the Texans didn't do anything to the O-Line this off-season and are currently positioned to run into the exact same problems again. Baltimore used the same blueprint twice to decimate the Texans; any team able to replicate that blueprint is going to give the Texans fits. Slowik better get something figured out. Much tougher schedule next season

@@midrangejumpr Last time we saw Kenyon he was getting his lunch money taken by a dude named Malcolm Roach in preseason. He repeatedly follows up abysmal performances with more abysmal performances. Scruggs was also terrible, as you can see in this video. Tytus was solid at RT but so was Fant. The only real upgrade they're getting back is Patterson at Center and it's a marginal upgrade. Need to give up on Green, draft a guy like Cooper Beebee or sign Connor Williams

82 was Steven Sims off the practice squad. Kinda illustrates how bad the WR's were banged up. No Dell, No Brown. We see why Brevin Jordan didn't see many snaps till injuries set in. He misses key block and runs a sloppy route early in this vid. He needs to step it up this year or it's his last year here...and I like Jordan fwiw
@bankhead8327 ай бұрын
bad play calling even jt said it in the breakdown lots of questionable play calling and line adjustments on a key third and 1 u have ur none blocking tight end blocking kinda how we lost tank dell in the first place 3 abd 1 run the play u trust even if the defense knows its coming u dont cute in the playoffs against a defense like this on 3rd and 1 texans did it twice maybe 3 times

Not sure what you expected when he’s without 2 of his top 3 WR’s on the road + a non existent run game lmao
@Praying_Mantis37 ай бұрын
Yeah it was a rough situation, plus the O-line was running on fumes at this point, all of them were playing injured and/or out of normal position. Tunsil even had to have knee surgery right after the season ended.

Really dude, you really expect him to do something against the top ranked defense with only 1 WR, 1 TE, 40% of his staring OL, and a non-existent run game with a Elmer’s glue defense supporting him

Hey JT, a wide receiver here I’m just genuinely curious. I realize your point of focus is mostly QB’s but I’m wondering with the second play you show, the corner in route combo. Assuming the wide out runs that corner towards the pylon like you show, would you coach them to look over the inside or outside shoulder?
@morsumbra96927 ай бұрын
I'd be looking outside shoulder sideline back to QB. If you look inside you'll drift more that way and your cut will be slower or sloppy. The DB is probably gonna be playing the infield hip and "helping" the WR to the sideline to use out of bounds as help also. So WR wants to cut fluid enough that the timing is easy for QB to hit WR soon after break, cuz once you hit sideline then you're just running upfield and it becomes a jumpball type play.

Meh. It’s easy to do this whole, “if this receiver had just run a slightly different route, it might’ve been a bigger play” type thing. That’s really not viable commentary on how Stroud played. On the road, bad weather, putrid run game (ie no play action passes), what can you really do
