The problem with DeMeco is he's buddy-buddies with Slowik. Media and fans have been asking for a change in OL coach and OC since Game 5! Texans fans are angry !!! DeMeco has neglected the offense.

That's one of the issues with the BOB/ Easterby era. It was a buddy nepotism setup, and it took forever and a dumpster fire to get heads to roll. The McNairs need to start treating employees like employees, and not golf buddies.

@@jacob2555 next year the job will probably be his. But firing your OC mid season is not smart. Carolina tried that last year to disastrous results. Almost ruined Bryce Young, and CJ looks to be in a fragile state

If they still plan on winning and making a deep playoff run that’s the solution. There will be growing pains and next offseason would be ideal but if don’t make changes you’re letting cj get killed and he won’t be the same anymore might cause him to leave eventually

There are ways the Texans can work around it (like not running the ball directly at Jeffrey Simmons through your IOL who can’t even block an email) but the coaching staff seems too stubborn to change anything. The only difference is KC play call has been the great with Andy Reid that’s how they got around that. With Houston you have a bad oline and a bad OC. CJ showed potential but he can’t do anything right now

In regards to that last part, comparing the 2024 Texans to the 2023 KC chiefs. You can probably compare cj stroud to Patrick Mahomes…but you can’t compare Andy Reid with Bobby slowick. I hope it turns out how it did last year for the chiefs this year for the Texans lol

This has been the best assessment of the issue with the Texans. This team has a top 3 defense. Oline is crap and cj doesn’t trust it. However I feel the biggest issue is play calling. Teams seem to know what we’re going to run on which down. Also having a bye week in week 14 is horrible from the nfl. They had 2 weeks, week 8 and week 11, which had no teams on the bye. This is just crap and way way too late to be having a bye. This team is gassed and once we get the bye we can go in rest up and make a good run.

Don't forget that Slowik refuses to run a spread out line. Everything is bunch packages. Hard to run UP THE MIDDLE with those packages. Could be the fact that the line can't handle a single person by themselves. So many times I've seen plays where youve got 3 Texans OL players blocking 1 guy, the other 2, are somewhat holding out on their own but its a 4-3 Defense... so Strouds on the ground. The stunts and twists have killed them this year, and that was mostly with Kenyon Green whos injured now. If the line could block their guys and not get fooled on easy stuff, they could spread it out and be able to have those interior gaps to run through. But they cant get their head out of their asses.

Titans have one of the best defense against pass 1 rush 12 but how wee stopped Mixon we must be 1 I think overall titans top 3 defense in the league Dennard Wilson done a great job

Houston has been the worst second half team all year. We have the worst +/-. Pressured the most and sacked the most. Demeco is friends with slowik so he won’t fire him mid season but he doesn’t even address it. He hasn’t called him out once. He blamed the defense saying we put up enough points. (3 in second half) Coaching is our biggest issue and oline is horrible. Oline coach hasn’t run this scheme before so he’s just winging it. We need change asap before CJ decides this team ain’t for him and we’ll lose him

We’re trying to win not do the same things we’ve been doing. CJ showed a lot last season when will we be able to draft a qb and hope he becomes what CJ is. We trying to win now with his rookie deal before it becomes too expensive to pay everyone.

As a long time Texans fan and Houstonian. I say get rid of Slowik. Bring in Jon Gruden as OC and as the bad cop to Demeco's good cop. JG will put fear into the offensive line - hell the entire offense. I realize he would be gone in February as a HC somewhere.

I mean I understand criticism. But this is the same OC that helped take a rookie QB to the divisional round of playoffs. Give him a break his top two receivers were out most of the year and we were 7-4 with the ravens who are considered a top team

CJ isnt the QB prodigy Hou fans thought he is. Maybe some truth to Bobby loosing last year's magic. But now its on to CJ to read coverages and go through his progressions. And he's average at that. For CJ to succeed he'll need a Phil type situation, dominate offensive line with elite skill positions.
