@@carguy0389 The suspension alone is over $7,000 easily. Then there's labor to install it. The four wheels are $4400, another $1100 for the full sized spare. Those five tires are $2750. So we're already at $15,250 before labor. That's just in the wheels/suspension/tires. Also, I didn't look into the air bags or leaf spring replacement. Figure a few thousand for all that. The light bar up front is $3200. The fog lights are another $1400. We're now at $19850 The Xpel wrap is likely to be about $3000. For reference, just the door cup guards ALONE are $11 a piece. He did his entire, massive, truck done. The trailer hitch is $3300. The fuel tank is $1300. The interior stuff is probably around $1250 So, again, before labor is factored in, you're looking at $28,700 in upgrades. Labor is going to add thousands more to that. And then the camper STARTS at $30,000.

There are so many new pop up camper companies that have "popped up" since COVID. Not all will survive now demand has slowed. In my opinion, FWC will be one of the few left standing when dust settles. The people there at Woodland are doing amazing work and some of the best in the business. Glad to see your video on this. We've had a Grandby slide in on a super duty back in 2015. Many great brands out there. Great time to shop for slide-in pickup campers. FWC is well established and have finally modernized a bit to keep up with the competition. Overland Explorer Vehicles (OEV) brand, out of Canada, makes composite campers that are very robust and better insulated (avoids condensation issues of the FWC). Supertramp Campers is another great brand made in Golden, CO. We've owned all three, in that order, and each has been an upgrade over the previous. Great having so many great choices.

External shower is really nice for rinsing sand & dirt off kids after a day outdoors.

This build is incredible. I've loved watching ya'lls evolvement and advancement over the last 5 or 6 years I've been following. Would you guys be willing to compare your suspension systems to the liquid springs? I see they now offer a version for the 250/350 and it would be interesting since a top of the line Carli system would be similar to the cost of the Liquid springs.
@CJCOffRoad4 ай бұрын
We actually discussed that exact topic in this video! The Liquid spring setup is fantastic for trucks doing long haul on road towing etc, but in terms of real off road usage with trips to remote Baja, the using a traditional spring and shock is going to offer more capability, durability, ease or service. They each have their place in the market!

@CJCOffRoad6 ай бұрын
These airbags are specifically designed for either stock or Carli rear leaf packs, so just make sure what option you get aligns with your long term goals. That said, the stock Tremor suspension is definitely nothing special. There's so much more potential for these trucks.

How does the truck perform with those XHD springs without the camper installed. Im trying to decide between the XHD and normal springs with airbags. My camper is 1750 dry but it is not mounted all the time. Or would the better option be normal springs with long travel airbags if 50 percent mounted camper while occasionally towing with camper mounted?
@CJCOffRoadАй бұрын
It's stiff and rear high without the camper on, but the decision should be based on how much time the camper spends installed as there's really no way to make the truck handle 100% in both situations with thousands of pounds of weight difference. If you go with stock leaf packs and bags the truck will handle okay empty, but less planted and stable loaded. If you're split 50/50 though that would probably be the best route.
@silversnake1016 ай бұрын
Does the 360 degree camera system on the truck still work with the tailgate removed?

Great build! We currently have a 2023 short bed F350 that we use for our Northern Lite 8-11. However, removing the tailgate on these beasts is a PIA. Could that Hawk be pushed forward enough to allow the tailgate to stay on and be used as a “patio” when folded down for access to the camper door etc? If so, I would consider moving over to the FWC Hawk.
@CJCOffRoad6 ай бұрын
In theory you could probably cut the camper's front bumpers down a little to shift it forward enough to close the tailgate. However to get in and out of the camper you would basically have to slide on your butt. Personally I was tempted to look at the Grandby model (8' bed) and let it rest on the tailgate partially. At the end of the day it seemed best to configure it how Four Wheel Campers intended!
@MrChadx16 ай бұрын
Main issue with keeping the tailgate on is it makes ducking under the short door harder. If you use a step stool to get in and out, you are naturally stepping up and through the door as you step up and when you step out, you step down to the step stool step. Having a tailgate means you are stepping in and out at nearly the same level as the camper floor and it is very awkward. I recommend removing the tailgate when the camper is on. These trucks handle the weight easily so if you are using the camper enough, leaving it on fulltime during your camping season is an option, unless you regularly need the bed, but we use trailers instead of the bed of the truck most of the time whether camper is on or off).
@ktheodore40126 ай бұрын
@@MrChadx1 Thank you for the input. It’s not just a camper access issue as removal of the Tailgates on these new Fords also “bricks” the entire camera system, not just the removed cameras. I have already had to purchase a supplementary camera to trick the system into functioning. Will just keep on considering my camper options or dealing with the inconvenience.

Cody should have spent more time researching his tire/wheel combo. 20"X10" rims with 13.5" wide tires is the obvious choice for his usage needs...and based on his significant complaints with stability! Running those 18"x9"'s favors extensive off-road use, which he simply just doesn't do. Plus there are significantly more tires to choose from in the 20" size!
@CJCOffRoad5 ай бұрын
There's actually no added stability with a 10" wide wheel, so the only thing 20x10 wheels would achieve is worse tire fitment with more rubbing, and less sidewall compliance for worse off road capability and ride. This wheel and tire combo was carefully selected to offer the best load range, ride quality, and all around driving possible.

Honest question. If you are going to change all the suspension/leafs, etc, why not just buy a more basic 4x4 and save that money for the modifications? Would you not end up with the same truck?

The Tremor package comes with a limited slip front differential, more favorable gearing for larger tires, drive modes, more water proof electronics, and stock parts that are worth more. It made sense to us for those reasons, but everyone's different so there's no harm in starting with a base package XL 4wd truck and then upgrading the suspension. It all just comes down to your end goals.
