Just an FIY: Please read the written pattern CAREFULLY, many people said that the written pattern doesn't match for the first row, but in fact, they are not following the instructions correctly. Here is the explanation: when we say [skip 1 ch, 3 sc in the next ch, skip next ch]. This is the sequence to follow, when you put the brackets together, to follow the sequence, it would look something like this: [skip 1 ch, 3 sc in the next ch, skip next ch][skip 1 ch, 3 sc in the next ch, skip next ch], etc.. So if you notice, the bracket ends with a ch and starts with a ch, which makes the 2 ch space :) This is simply to make the sequence match throughout the whole row. THANK YOU!!! Here is the link to the free pattern on my blog: www.cjdesignblog.com/andreas-blanket/

Just a heads up to anyone interested in doing this blanket. The multiples are 3 if you’re wanting to make it bigger. Another tip is that because the yarn is bulky and if you’re using a chenille/velvet yarn other than Bernat I would suggest dropping the chain one at the beginning of each row as that leaves a very loopy and prominent bump. Just crochet the single crochet in the first stitch the number of stitches remains the same but you have a much straighter edge

Thank you for the heads up

Thank you! My tension was a little too tight and my blanket was working up only 32 inches wide, so I had to start over. I think I’m going to try chaining 99 to start this time, since her 75 only made hers 40 inches wide and that seems a little small.

I can’t figure out if it’s skip two or one as the pdf says one and video says two. Can you help clarify
@cloudydaez Жыл бұрын
@@Pnutbutajelitymethe skip one is only in the beginning and end of each row. It’s skip two as you are always doing the 3 sc in the middle stitch of the previous 3 dc on the tow before. Follow the tutorial otherwise you’ll get out of whack with the pattern

FINALLY SOMEONE CAN EXPLAIN CLEARLY WHAT THEY ARE ACTUALLY DOING! Such a clear, concise step by step video! Ive been so frustrated with every single other video ive watched on how to do this - watched all of them at least a few times and was pausing playing and then rewinding constantly. I watched this video literally one time and paused after watching what to do for each step AND I GOT IT PERFECT FIRST TIME. Thank you thank you thank you

I really like this pattern too! I knit but crochet, I think, is faster so I’m going to try it. My crochet hook arrived yesterday, I have yarn and I’m ready to get started on Christmas presents! Who said you can’t teach an old dog (72) new tricks?! I’m learning so much from KZbin. Your designs are wonderful. I guarantee I’ll know how to do a HDC when I finish the previous pattern! Thanks for the work you put into the tutorials. They’re very clear!

Fun easy blanket. I will definitely keep in my go to patterns for bulky #5+ yarns. Multiples of "3" work to make the blanket in the video bigger or smaller. FYI, the 1st row of her pattern on the blog does not match the video. If you are looking for her finished measurements, she gives them as 40 x 56 in the video & on her blog. Her gauge was 7st & 5 rows = 4x4. Hope this helps someone.

How many chains should I do if I want to make a 50x60 blanket? I’m so confused on determining the chain adjustment for different sizes
@yolandabrinkman2653 Жыл бұрын
Whether i crochet or knit, I do not use knots in the main part of the project. My method is to leave the end and start of a ball of wool at the edge of my work. Once project is completed I knot and hide ends in the work itself. No bulky bits and works well on projects with edging as part of the pattern eg throw rugs and tassles

I wish this would only take me 4.5 hours to make. It takes me that long per skein! I knew I wasn’t a speedy crocheter, but I didn’t think I was turtle slow. Currently only skein 4 though and it looks nice.
@ch.83256 күн бұрын
Same! I’m 3/4 through this blanket and I’ve spent idk, at least 8 hours on it I believe
@CJDesignblog2 күн бұрын
Everyone crochet a different speed :) Have you tried timing yourself? We definitely don't crochet all day tho, maybe 1 hour per day? That doesn't mean you have been sitting down crocheting for 24 hours hehe
@bokehbutterfly6544Күн бұрын
@ Yes, I wish I was much faster though. I can get between 4-5 rows in an hour. I usually do 1-3 hrs a day. If I do more than that, then I tend to skip a day or two. Part of my slowness may be that I go back every few clusters and check my work to make sure I didn’t accidentally add or leave out a stitch. I will also crochet with the tv on in the background, but nothing that I need to actually watch cuz I do look at my work the bulk of the time. I do get soreness in my fingers, wrist, forearm and even sometimes even my shoulder. So I think I may be try to be more conscious of how I crochet because of that and stop to massage my arm and wrist every so often as I’ve found that helps, but I may be developing some arthritis at this point. The fact that there are people like you that can speed through crocheting projects amazes me and I think it’s great that you can. I’m closing in on 50 so age could be a factor for me. I just know that for most projects I need to triple or quadruple the estimated time. I did just finish this blanket a few days ago though and it’s lovely. Mine was just shy of 40” x 54” at about 3.5 skiens into it. Then I used almost another skein (I had 5 available) and put four rows of SC as a border to get it to 43/44” x 60”. I gave it to my aunt for her 65th birthday and now I have requests from others to get one. ♥️

@bokehbutterfly654410 ай бұрын
Smaller hook will result in a smaller sized blanket, so you’ll need more chains/stitches to achieve the same width she did, as well as more rows. I’d get a 5th skein of yarn too.

Hi, I love the video, just bought the same yarn and 12mm hook. I completed the first row after the 75 chains and noticed I’ve very big gaps. What am I doing wrong?
@CJDesignblog2 күн бұрын
You should never measure after the first row, because your blanket doesn't have any weight yet and the stitches are not pulling together. If you are not sure about a pattern or stitch, I always recommend making a small swatch to make sure you like the look of the stitch and to see your tension :)
@elizabethcjclark7339Күн бұрын

Bernat Chenille Yarns wash great. I use them for baby blankets and recommend washing on gentle and drying on gentle. The blanket and stitches maintain their shape AS LONG AS YOU DO NOT WASH WITH ZIPPERS OR BUTTONS that can grab the stitches.
