The thumb flick is much tougher on those thin holes. I have the CJRB Pyrite and am getting the Ekko. On the Pyrite I exclusively open it with my middle finger. On a Spyderco though I find the thumb to be a bit easier.

I just got the titanium ekko from artisan cutlery and it is one of the best knives I own, not even just best for the money, just outright one of the best.
@franksalem858011 ай бұрын
Yes. I owned the original Ekko and liked it so much I bought the Titanium version.

I have the black pyrite, got it 2 days ago. Mine is drop shut out of the box and zero blade play. I've heard what you are experiencing is more the norm due to the coating. I'm sure you have heard, as have I, that the stone wash has a much better action.
@FloridaBoyEDC Жыл бұрын
I have heard and seen that. I was hoping that wasn’t the case but it’s looking like it is. The action is still pretty good but it could be better. Maybe I’ll do a little polish or sanding around the pivot to get that coating off and see if that helps. Or it’ll break in over time.

yes sir im about to buy this ekko in like 3 days once i get my refund lol man i cant wait so cool i bought a vosteed raccoon but they sent me the wrong one on purpous from ebay so i sent it back and once i get my refund back im going to buy the ekko lol i knew i should of just stayed with artisan cutlery products since they do such a great job with all there button locks
@franksalem858011 ай бұрын
Good comparison. I prefer the Ekko too. It has more ways to open and I think it is easier to deploy with the thumb.

im about to buy the pyrite today brother im so excited this is my second knife that cost 50 dollars lol my whole family thinks im vrazy because i spend way to much on a knife lol but i love these button lock knifes so fun to play with even tho i dont even take them out of there packages becuase i dont want to ruin them lol i use my Mtech MT1022 button lock knife to play with since it cheap and it had ball bearings and it came centered as well witch is great for a cheap 17 dollar knife lol

I like my Pyrite a lot. It is a perfect EDC for me. Love the weight

The pyrite is so good! I hope CJRB keeps pumping this knife because it has so much potential. It’s definitely a fan favorite!

I have the Ekko w titanium bolster and micarta, from knifecenter. One of my faves. Ray Laconico is a legend. I have the stainless steel pyrite and while i like it as a knife, it's very slick to grip. Ekko in any version wins over the pyrite for me. My only complaint is that I wish the jimping extended further out along the spine like the pyrite does
@granne2970 Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the comparison! I appreciate your opinion because I have had the original Pyrite since it came out. I got the Wharnie about two weeks ago, and the Ekko is coming tomorrow! They are all blacked out. It will be interesting to see how they compare. 👍

The Ekko is so good! Your gonna love it. It’s so fidgety, makes awesome sounds, and the belly on the blade is so useful. Definitely worth every penny.

@@FloridaBoyEDC you're absolutely right! Not a big front flipper fan, but it is awesome. It is very fidgety!!

I’d love to hear any other modifications you do to these. I got my Ekko in the mail today. I got the Blade HQ exclusive aluminum all blacked out. I’m gonna grab a titanium clip but interested in more mods. Great knife. Great video.
@FloridaBoyEDC Жыл бұрын
I can do that! I’m always looking at modding knives and I will make more videos about it! A titanium clip is an awesome way to start the build off! The Ekko is so good! I think it beats out the pyrite. I’ll have to do some research and see what kind of changes people are making on them.

i want the pyrite as my next knife even tho i do want a CIVIVI knife im feeling like i should stay with CJRB since i have 2 of these knifes allready lol

How's their pvd coating holding up? Nice, subbed!

I'm digging the Ekko. They also offer it in green micarta, so I might go with it for that pouch. I was gonna do an OD green Spyderco Tenacious, but I'm not sure it would fit. Great vid brah. 😊
@FloridaBoyEDC Жыл бұрын
I actually have never owned the Tenacious and I’m not sure why. It looks like an excellent knife. I hear that some Walmarts carry it and sometimes you can find it at a heavy discount. My buddy picked one up for around $30 from a Walmart. You can’t go wrong with the Ekko though. It is a freaking excellent knife. Ergonomics are great and the deployment options are really dialed in. It’s definitely one of my favorite knives under $100. 🤙🏼

Not a fan of the look of the handle material on the Ekko but that is an excellent knife. Thanks for the video Florida

Anytime ElCap! My wife picked the CF finish. It wouldn’t have been my first choice but it does look nice and I don’t have any complaints with it.

so i think the pyrite has some qc issues out of the box. mine couldnt even flick open. the detent was way too strong. i tried loosening some screws and just playing around with it. nothing worked. then 4 days later it magically was perfect and fall shutting without me even touching it. i dont know if it has to do with humidity in the our from our location, or just needing to settle in. maybe something to do with lube in the bearings.
@FloridaBoyEDC Жыл бұрын
My pyrite has definitely gotten better as it’s broke in. The action is still nowhere near what I see on other peoples knives. It could be because of the coating on mine. But I’m with you on the QC. I think that might be a factor for this one. It’s pretty humid here to but it doesn’t usually effect my knives like this so I’m not entirely sure yet.

Love the ekko. I’m thinking ray laconico doesn’t know how to do good jimping. I have the Civivi sokoke and it seems way to smooth for a front flipper and doesn’t not go around the top.
@FloridaBoyEDC Жыл бұрын
The jimping on front flippers is what usually makes me stray away from them. Sometimes Kizer does the same thing it its as slick as a board. The OKnife Parrot is the same way. Jimping is super smooth and its kind of tough. The Ekko is such a great knife. I’ll probably end up taking a Dremel with a small cutting wheel to the jimping and try to make them a touch deeper to get a better purchase on it.
@johnchlapecka1534 Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the reply. I was thinking the same think on my Civivi sokoke. Just ordered the ekko. I figured it would need the same. The Kubey momentum has great jimping. It’s not much for looks but one great all around knife.
@dand3329 Жыл бұрын
I think I like the pyrite better, I don't have any of the front flippers but the ekko might be a good one to check it out on 🏴☠️🗡🐊
@FloridaBoyEDC Жыл бұрын
I like the snappy detent of the pyrite. It’s definitely a great reverse flicker. The Ekko is super fidgety and the front flipper is excellent. I’ve had some front flipper before that are almost impossible to manipulate. The Ekko is superb. 👌🏻

Both of these will stay in the collection. My wife bought them for me for my birthday. But I am going to start downsizing the collection rather soon. Give some stuff away and sell off some is the plan. I love having all of them but at some point, it’s a little much. 😅
