I really enjoyed making this video on the Socata TB10. Is this the perfect aircraft for hour building? Please let me know what you think in the comments section. Thanks for watching! 🛩

I started in the airlines when I was 20.. initially based in Spain but back in the UK by the time I was 21! So not long away doing your time overseas... always a flight back home on days off so don’t worry about the lifestyle it certainly comes and an easy workaround in the mean time! If you have the bug for instruction then make yourself known that you’re keen to do an SFI course and you’ll be back in a UK sim hub in no time. Nice video! After 10 + years of airline work I’m itching to get the SEP back on the licence so enjoyed the video, many things to re learn... sky demon looks amazing. Kids these days with their technology! I want in!

It's always fantastic to hear about other pilot's careers and experiences. The way things are at the moment I very much believe that instruction is the way to go until we see some sort of global recovery. Personally I'd love to spend a bit of time based out of Spain though, I'm sure I could convince the family to relocate there for a while! Thanks for the comment. I'm glad you enjoyed the video. Feel free to follow this channel for more content in the future 👍🛩

A lovely message to receive. It is nice to hear from a professional pilot that the career is more workable than i had first thought, i would love to do the airlines and if it was only a matter of a year based elsewhere that would be perfect. You can certainly have more "Fun" in an SEP, hope you can get back in the skies in one soon! :)

Awesome! I see G-IANC at Kemble all the time so super to see a video of this aircraft. Great stuff.

Thanks CGA, nice to find you on KZbin and the links to Kemble. Yeah lovely aircraft and TB10s are often overlooked by many as the focus tends to be on PA28 or C172. A joy to fly!

I've just purchased a TB10 after spending 8 years doing my PPL - unfortunately just before lockdown so haven't been able to fly it yet! Can't wait to get back in the air! I did my variable prop signoff in one - superb machine :-)

It’s a lovely aircraft. Gets a bad rep from archer pilots for being underpowered; but for the extra room and comfort if happily be 5knots less than them

You are a man of good taste Oli, I have to say how impressed I was with the aircraft that I would consider purchasing a share in one myself. Thanks for watching!

No bad rep from me and I'm an Archer group owner. Then again I did once have a TB9 share for a few years and loved the aeroplane, would have gone for a TB10 share if there were any around these parts. Enjoy flying your new TB10 Oli, all the best things come to those who wait.

Richard, since flying in the TB10 I'm seriously considering a share in one. I never considered it before I flew in G-NC and yes Oli your patience will be rewarded 👍

Good to see some young GA interest. I wish I started earlier. I'd always had the impression it was just too expensive for me so never looked properly until now. I'm doing PPL(M), in a CT2K so ultimate value but even looking at GA - whilst it's not 'cheap' there are ways you can make it affordable. A share in a plane is one way. Though at this rate I think we'll have to start buying shares in airfields to have places to land before they are all turned into housing! I hope younger people seeing this will realise they can do it if they have the will and have a go.
@CJThePilot3 жыл бұрын
Thank you M B, it is absolutely crucial for the aviation industry as a whole that people aren't put off from starting their PPL/LAPL etc. I often hear people saying "it's never too late to start" which is totally true, but it's also important to stress it's never too early to start either. I hate the thought of an 18 year old student putting it off because they feel they are £2,000 short when in fact it could make such a difference to get some lessons under their belt. As you say there are many ways to go about things. Determination and hard work always wins. I hope you enjoyed the video. Please subscribe for future content if you haven't done so already 👍

Well done guys, lovely, lovely aircraft, great trip, thanks for filming and posting. Back in the day, iirc, 1980s - 1990s (and up until 2019?), "Squawking 7000" was the norm. I thought that "Squawk Conspicuity" was the new way (that everyone struggles to pronounce - thought up by some ministry desk Johnny to justify his pay rise?). For hour building some of the light sport types - depending on country of origin - and anything fitted with a Rotax might be good for hour building? But that's a mighty fine plane to do touring, hour building etc in. Depends on budget and wants I guess though. Watching you guys, makes me wish I'd kept up my flying all those years back, I started aged 13/14. Money then became tight though and motorbikes, beer and other distractions seemed a cheaper option (when I sat down and added them up though, they weren't! Should have kept flying lol!). A mate of mine was flying fixed wing microlights at Kemble, boy those things get airborne and high quick! I've always pondered the crosswind issue for the grass at Kemblfe, at one time, iirc, the microlights used a smaller circuit too. If it weren't for the deadside, I suppose that it might be possible for aircraft on Eg 26 hard to do a left hand circuit (off of 26H) and aircraft on 26 grass to do a right hand circuit (off of 26G)? I expect airport management and ATC would disagree with me though. Keep the videos coming please.

Thank you Muso for such lovely feedback. It's a wonderful plane for touring, hour building. A real all-rounder. There's nothing wrong with motorbikes, but yeah don't we all wish we'd kept more money back for flying when we were younger!!! 😂

@@CJThePilot Educational tit-bit on "squawk conspicuity"... The change is to cover there being multiple conspicuity codes. VFR pilots know the usual 7000, but if your are IFR without a discrete squawk assigned you would set 2000.
@musoseven82182 жыл бұрын
@@whiskeybravoaviation Good point well made👍😊😊 Although "Squawk 7000" was a fairly clear instruction as VFR and IFR would already be declared?🤔🤔 I guess that the onus was on the pilot and perhaps mistakes were made?

We (myself and 2 other partners) have been looking for 4 particular aircraft for 2 months now. Primary requirements (aside from the "given" ones), are 180-H.P., fixed gear and IFR certified. Before having found an "ideal" 3rd and final partner, my cousin and I had a list of only 3 potential candidates: #1 choice...177 Cessna Cardinal- #2 choice...Piper Archer II- #3 choice...Beech Sundowner- Then, we met our 3rd partner,, who brought to our attention the Socata TB-10: *great ramp appeal/modern in design- *roomy/comfortable- *respectable cruise speed and fuel burn- *a low wing with 2 gull wing doors...comfortable entry and exit- *large windows- *bucket seating throughout- The list of 3 candiates became 4, but the I'd research the TB-10, the more the list of 4 became a list of only 1! Unfortunately, availability here in the states is minimal. Ugggh! Regardless of all that...your videos about the TB-10 are greatly appreciated!

First solo in 11 hours, great. Aside from knowing the check list by heart...in a simulation, with just 11 hours would he survive an engine failure at 300 feet after take off with no runway left? I think it is irresponsible to allow a student to solo with such low hours. Yeah it looks cool to every one but is it wise. At over 3000 hours and what I consider to be a very good level of single and multi engine proficiency, I still hope I never get a real emergency. I have seen too many young pilots meet their demise due to inexperience. Don't get me wrong, I'm not getting at the student, I'm happy for him. It's more the school and instructor I'm getting at. No need to rush, that's all I'm saying. Flying is awesome but things can go wrong real quick and if you don't have the experience, knowledge and skill it can turn out real bad.
@CJThePilot3 жыл бұрын
I think context is everything. Yes 11 hours is very quick, but at what point is it right to send a student on their First Solo? I'm not disagreeing with any of your sentiments, rather that if a student displays the right abilities then what is an instructor to do? Hold them back? A student surely has to solo when they are ready. Aside from that it's a shame you have nothing else to comment on from this video as throughout Josh displays what a competent pilot he is!
