I just did one myself. I was shocked at how fast the acetone dissolved the kreem. The kreem is actually PVC. that's why it doesn't hold up to ethanol fuel. After that, I used white vinegar to get the remaining rust out. Then relined with POR15. I've also had great luck with Caswell.

Did my Sporty Tank yesterday. I used a 2' dog chain so that I wouldn't have to dig out the nuts & bolts and it worked great. Great Video!

I’m in the process of doing the same on a 71 Honda with a thick coating inside and it is driving crazy how much of a hassle it is but will be worth it. Great video!

You also should cover the whole tank with masking tape. If you drip some acetone on the paint, it will be ruined.

You just made me decide not to coat my 1984 Interceptor tank. When I see these guys coating their tanks on YT, I know it is only time before they have your problem because it is virtually impossible to get every spec of rust off, and seal it completely. Our alcohol fortified gas pulls water out of the air and causes the rust eventually, which will eventually separate the liner. Have been doing electrolysis in the winter temperatures for 4 days and still have a little left to go.....these tanks are a pain in the rear. I thought of using the same tape but wasn't sure it would hold the pressure of a tank full of electrolyte, and I'm sure aluminum gives up its electrons before iron oxide will. I am just planning to keep the tank full with high octane gas and add an oz of oil to the full tank when I store it for the season. From what I've read, that will seal the exposed iron and give another 40 years of service (hopefully). Thanks for the video!

I'm dealing with the same scenario, except with what I believe is por 15. The aluminum tape is a smart idea, I think I'll use that.

Do you think vinegar would get the tank liner out as well instead acetone?

Im trying to clean out a failed liner in the tank of my Suzuki VX800. You are doing all the same things I'm doing. I just wish it didn't take so long...

What about the side of the tank that isn't visible inside? How did you go about scrubbing that side?

The vent brush I got you could bend. I also put a bunch of drywall screws in it and shook it a lot! Count them when you put them in so get all of them out.
