Fantastic harvester! I was looking at it, thinking "Something is missing there", until I finally realised, that back wheels are gone :)

Cool machine, why does the harvester carry the bin on an angle as opposed to strait behind?

+DeJaRnOO thanks for the reply, I see that in the description now. I looked at the video again and from the overhead shots you can see that the trailer tracks are offset from the harvester. I missed that on first viewing. That's quite an ingenious modification.

De forage harvester equipped with the 'dog leg' chassis technology for even less soil compaction. As shown by the video the TerraTrac tracks use another track then the big wheels of the chopper , which means another track on the land is compacted and the land is compacted more equally. The turned bin is to keep in line with the coppers outlet, so that it can get filled equally. This is Important for the regrowth of the lucerne.

The trailer is at an angle so that the rear tracks do not run in the same wheel tracks as the front tires do. They are worried about compaction on the soil and also packing the alfalfa down . If the alfalfa is packed down too much it makes the next cutting grow slower. The tillers of the next cutting are already there just small.

I think they call it Crab Walking, it puts even weight on the ground so it wont tear up the fields.

How well does the harvester component chop the lucerne material? We have a similar set up, and the limitation is having windrows too small, such as the size shown on the video, so that there isn't enough material to feed into the knives. Great windrower as well. Good design for limiting lost leaf.

Why is the bin skewed sideways most of the time? Easier U-turn? Spread the ground-load/ compaction over a larger area?

If you've got that big of a grass cutting operation, why not just cut and row in one pass with a Krone Big M500?
@lepaul268 жыл бұрын
I think it has to dry a little bit before they chop it.
@alexveldhuis60048 жыл бұрын
It gets taken to be dried and then pelleted. So the more moisture that can be removed, the lower the cost of production. Artificial drying uses a lot of energy = lot of dough. A bit of wilting (drying in the field) soon removes around half of it for free, except for extra passes to windrow.

The track then runs on a different area to the front wheels, lightening its footprint. Other are offsetting their tracks in oeration for same reason. A genuine spread of weight, this.

More consistent weather and higher temps mean you can make actual hay. Tricky job in The Netherlands. But this set up is specifically for a grass drying company, where the material is dried and pelleted. A guaranteed way of conserving fodder for the winter months when the dairy cows and housed 24/7 as they would destroy the paddocks in no time at all.
