Absolutely agree Steve. I was born in Clacton during the great freeze of 1963, I don’t remember any of it being a newborn but my mother told me about how she saw the sea frozen over & walking to her antenatal appointments in five feet of snow piled up either side of the pavement! Yes, it was a lovely time, no stabbing in the street or folk being blown up on the way to work, plus we were all happier & healthier due to plenty of physical work & outdoor pursuits, quality of life in general has gone backwards instead of forwards. If you ever know the whereabouts of a time machine be sure to let me know & I’ll happily come along with you..don’t think I’ll go back!😉
