In the shocking climax of Outlander season 7, Claire realized that the mother of Jane and Fanny Pocock is actually a figure who was briefly introduced previously in the series. Since this twist never occurred in Diana Gabaldon's adaptation of the story, this is formally when the Outlander TV series started to diverge most from the books. There are still many unsolved questions because Claire's suspicions were a cliffhanger. It's uncertain if Claire is correct about Faith Pocock, but Outlander raises the possibility of this strange relationship.
In season two of Outlander, Claire and Jamie's baby Faith was stillborn in France. Not only did Claire have to grieve for a daughter she had never met, but she also almost died from an infection after the birth, making it a traumatic experience. Claire's survival was only due to Master Raymond, but the mother's spirit was still gone that day. For hours, Claire cradled Faith's body while singing to her and admiring the baby's facial features. Then, at last, she had to let Faith go. Since the baby's burial at L'Hôpital des Anges, Outlander has had no reason to question whether she is actually dead.
Claire has come to believe that Faith managed to survive in spite of everything. The song "I Do Like to Be Beside the Seaside" was taught to Claire by Fanny's mother, Faith, who also happened to be her name. Claire's tentative judgment was influenced by this detail as well as Master Raymond's apology. This would imply that Jane and Fanny are the grandchildren of Jamie and Claire. It's hard to imagine how these two Faiths could be the same woman in Outlander, though, considering how certain the baby's death was.
