trying so hard to understand this video so she has an admirer right from the beginning when she's just being herself and doing things that may not be considered "mainstream/conventionally sexy" and then when she is ready for a relationship and "searching" 1:58 we see her kind of morph/take on aspects of this original admirer 2:10 then she points off into the distance and runs 2:15, inviting the admirer to meet her elsewhere (this part felt queer coded to me as they both have to hideaway in order to embrace each other and the trait they share that could be ostracizing elsewhere) ...and then it goes greyscale and clairo is bopping while the yeti is catatonic 2:26... and then there's color and they're both jamming out 2:33.. and then back to greyscale and an emotionally unavailable yeti... 2:41 so this could easily be a relationship that could feel tormenting, but clairo keeps her chin up and doesn't stop jamming out and then we see the relationship kind of die off? and clairo blowing into the fire in an attempt to stoke the flame, and potentially rekindle what was lost? 2:54 but then we see that the pattern potentially repeats itself.. idk this video made this song seem equally invested in self-love which might initially feel contrary to the lyrics but i think it makes sense and makes me like this song way more its not "I want to be sexy to someone in conventional terms, but I want someone to find who i currently am as sexy. I want someone to see who I am and what I bring as sexy as is".. does this even make sense kjabfdjkabkajcdnlanlnad i should be doing homework... tanks to the 1 pookie who took the time to read this

i love this take! for me i was reminded of her byline essay on beauty when she compared learning about beauty to seeing deers crossing her yard: the specific brand of mystique animals posses because they cant help but move the way they were born to and how she thinks maybe they see humans the same way. i think that was a brilliant analogy and how ive come to understand her album/this video. how "charm" can be magnetic and obscure at the same time. pretty friggin brilliant!
