great information especially with the reasons for such high initial amps with just ignition on. Practical use of the device too. Thank you.🕶

Again, nice video! 👍 Note that for accurate readings, you should position the clamp next to the cable to want to measure, then zero the device, and then clamp it onto the cable, with as little movement as possible. Zeroing the device at a random location could give a small false reading when clamping it onto a cable

You are right, I should do this. On the other hand with the amperage I read it is not significant (at least for me). Thanks for the comment.

Thank you very much for this very helpful Video. I ' ve got same Multimeter and used it last weekend same way you described to make the car running again. Obviously the current value depends on the direction you use the clamp surrounding the cable. Positive value was lower than negative value and positive value seems to be the correct one. I controlled with second multimetett in series. Thanks a lot.

Is there a way to test how much my truck draws with the headlights on, radio, and ac to see how much overhead I have to add stuff before I need to upgrade my alternator? Is that what you did at 3:45?
@robertdeptula20038 ай бұрын
With all mentioned components on you will read the total current drawn (you are right, as @ 3:45).

If you want to how many amps certain devices are pulling. Check each one separately. There may be an easier way, but it might be best to connect a regular probe (jaw clamp style probe is easiest) to the negative terminal the battery, then pull the fuse and insert the + probe into the fuse holder for each item to get the amperage. Then turn that device on, and it will show the current. Be careful doing this. Make sure it is off before connecting the probe into the fuse holder because you can weld it when you touch it if there is already power. Also, you could just see how many amps the alternator can provide, then turn everything on, and use the clamp meter on either battery cable to see how many total amps are being pulled from the battery.

Hi ,Can you tell me why on the clamp meter there is + and - there is a sense when measuring direct current. How to put the cable inside?

What should the amp rate be on a battery that is good, I was told that higher amp rate means the battery is accepting charge and low rate is dead battery?

Hi Robert, Good video, I have parasetic drain. I know its better to measure on the negative but is it also possible to measure over the positive because my meter doesn t fit between my batterie and measuring clamp?
@robertdeptula20034 ай бұрын
Keep in mind that small current may not be picked up by a clamp tester. On my channel there is video in "Cool Tool" series about small Amp tester you can plug into fuse port and check this way.
