Wonderful collection. My Granddad drove those trams, and I am 82 years young now. He passed away too young in 1942. aged 62. Many thanks for sharing these. They have evoked wonderful memories from my childhood and and right up to the present day where a daughter lives at the south side of London Fields. I will always love Hackney. A great Aunt had a shop there in the early 1900s too. You can't beat the East End of London for the character of the place and many born and raised there, Cockneys through and through.

Hackney born and bred also. Great photos thanks for uploading. I grew up just off lower Clapton road. So many changes to what was a brilliant place growing up. Then the drugs and badness just took over which once was a brilliant place. The whole of the east end will never be the same. Oh well. Thanks for the video.

Absolutely amazing. I am 80 years old and grew up in Cazenove Rd and then after marriage in 1964, lived for many years in Osbaldeston Rd, until we moved to a flat in Stamford Hill, 16 years ago. I wonder how you managed to collect these beautiful pictures. I remember the party just after the war in Cazenove Rd, with hundreds of tables. I still remember a show there with a woman in a box, pretending to be sawed in half.

I lived off Upper Clapton Road (Mount Pleasant hill) for a few years, down near the woodyard along from the Hope & Anchor when Les M.B.E. ran it, would watch the narrow boats pass by, walk along the toe-path to the marina, walk across the marshes before they were drained for the Olympics, its a great part of London full of interesting places and people, many of the buildings in the old photos were still there when I was there in late 1980s-1990s, Clapton pond was full of shopping trolleys and McDonalds rubbish with the odd duck,
