I grew up with the Beatles. Saw them on the Ed Sullivan show Feb/64. I'm heading for 72 now. i remember like it was just a few years ago running down to Caldors (long since closed) a department store in Brookfield Ct to buy the new George Harrison triple album "All things must pass". What a beautiful person he was. He was on his death bed when Ringo came to visit. Ringo told him he had to see Yoko in New York. George asked him if he wanted him to go with him. Can you imagine that? Can make you misty to think of that.

Used to play this song on the piano in the early 70’s. I just assumed it was a Beatles tune bcuz it sounded similar. I was only 25% correct. It was much easier to play then “Beware of Darkness” which was too hard for me. Sheryl Crowe does an excellent rendition of it with Belinda Carlisle. The day George passed way, I was driving home from work when I heard it on the radio. I had to pull off the road bcuz I was crying. When the Beatles first came out & were on Ed Sullivan I was barely 9. I loved Paul & George. I even had a card (like a baseball crd) of George! I had a funky poster of Paul I took from my older brother. I often vacillated between the two. It was too hard to pick a favorite. Geo. was such a sweet, loving soul that graced us with his gift of music. It was a special time in the 60’s, to be witness to the music revolution was so exciting!

This is one Beetles song. Could play on the piano. I thought it was Beetles song, but it’s George’s. I was a massive Beetles fan from when I was 8. Not long after JFK was assonated, the Beetles appeared on Ed Sullivan.. we were hurting badly as a nation. They were the perfect distraction when our souls were broken. I was in love! I vacillated between Paul & George. I listened to the revolution in music on my little transistor radio. (Look it up.) was in 9th grade when Abbey Road came out. Fast forward to the early 90’s when I moved to St. Petersburg, FL. Was so lucky to go to an Eric Clapton concert with my sister’s coworker. OMG! How amazing was that? My first concert in the brand new stadium that didn’t even have an official name or sponsor. The seats were in the nosebleed section but I had my binoculars with a zoom. I shared them with strangers bcuz my god, it was Eric effin Clapton! I wrote down the notes from Layla, my 2nd favorite song behind Hotel California. It took me a long time. I had a a turntable that you could adjust the key to be in tune. And I only had my little Yamaha keyboard. He is blues & soul & Rock. Phenomenal! I knew the history of Geo.’s ex who Eric wrote Layla for. His future wife. But they were such good friends. I only wish I had seen Geo. play with him.
