My family is also from the (poorer side of) Rumson; I am very excited to see more of this story.

Perhaps not, but it shows how Malcolm felt about his wife’s death, and who his friends were. Perhaps that kind of connection?

Rumson, NJ is where Bruce Springsteen lives. You need money to live there in horse country.

A condolence letter is not a connection.

They were obviously close. It didn't say a family connection.

It’s a letter from Churchill who was friends to both of them. What do you want a photo of them doing a jig together?

@@RichieRich1234RICH Someone as prominent as Churchill would be expected to write condolence letters to all sorts of people, and the language of the letter may not be a reliable guide to the the nature of the relationship. For example, as head of the Conservative Party he would be expected to acknowledge the death of everyone who held a position in the Party, however small, and would also be expected to emphasize the deceased person's impact. This video doesn't show me enough of the relationship to judge its true nature.

@@roberthudson1959 this was in 1927. Churchill didn’t lead the Conservative Party until after the start of the war in 1940. They were both MPs and went to weekend get togethers at Sassoon’s house. The deceased wife is a daughter of the Earl of Derby who was in Government with Churchill and Ambassador to France and as a peer would have known Churchills parents. I’m sorry you’ve completely missed the point. These were connected political and aristocratic families who socialised.
