I'm gonna be honest, 150 seconds plus all the time before gens pop (if they have it, I know it isn't always the case but usually they will have extra time) is already plenty of time for 4 searches (if someone gets that unlucky). If people aren't getting traps off, it's because they were procrastinating, or because they got tunneled so hard that it didn't matter anyway. And also, leaning into ambush is a horrible idea because traps are the only thing making her worth playing to begin with; if you want something like ambush without the traps, you'd just be learning blight instead, because he does the same thing with so many more options. Also, the average search for traps will be 3 as search counts always total up to 12 (at 3 searches per trap, in the case of extra/less traps), so if someone got it off in 4, someone else is getting it off in significantly less. This was directly to counter the added RNG of the traps (and also box camping, but that's unrelated), because as you stated, nobody likes that. Survivors can estimate how many tries it will take after the first 2 come off and account for it, but Pig will have a much harder time doing so because he doesn't know the search count; if survivors wait unnecessarily long to remove traps when they're able to directly know how many tries it will take, that's just a matter of nobody understanding Pig traps properly and not caring to actually learn it for the 2 times a month they'll play against her.

Interesting video, but totally get what you're saying about tired ramblings. It was a little hard to follow what points you made exactly. I play main pig at 1.5k hrs (probably a good chunk of that is just pig) and though I'm not crazy OP comp piggy I have some things to say: RBTs ARE what make The Pig... THE PIG. Ambush needs buffs, sure, but not as a compromise for the unique, interesting part of the killer's power, and also this killer's identity. If we gut or cut out this aspect of the character (as others have said) there is no appeal aside from the loose association to SAW and I would sooner play most of the roster over a Pig-that-is-not-Pig. I see Pig as some generalist, jack-of-all-trades killer that tries to play the long game right and keep 1v4 pressure. buffing 1v1 will help but this shouldn't be at the expense of the 1v4 aspect of the power. This might be unpopular but this game and its players are trying to hypersweat minmax the hell out of what should be a casual game with horror aesthetic. Loathed memoirs of a simpler time like RBT rng and Tombstone Myers are looked at with such disdain and we should honestly enjoy the parts of the game that we don't control or can have some suspense over. Most games against a Pig where I get a trap placed I do not get popped, and if I do, I'm not upset about unfair RNG and why it took every search to get the box off my head. As far as my experience (which is more than your sample size, it's gonna be really hard to make solid conclusions with so many variables) headpops only happen because some combination of: survivors' mistakes and killer interruptions. I've run plenty of scream builds, aura builds, generic slowdown, funny meme builds, and it all amounts to those two things; it's just that more pressure through killer decisions and builds leads to these things generally. Especially against weaker survs who are usually the ones dying to RBTs. I'm glad they didn't nerf the search times on a power that people don't even consider reliable to use as a kill. Opting to remove box auras for Pig is annoying considering she's not strong, but I can accept that these scream perks used to try and guarantee pops will be used along with other info perks to find them anyway. Ambush and crouch changes feel very nice; they feel like QoL changes that should have been made forever ago. Uh yeah I think I said everything I wanna say, big ups to jaysax and druss bc I do watch both on occasion and they're both pretty good! definitely hope you sink some more hours into Amanda and enjoy all the aspects that make her kit interesting. She's def an underdog character that has potential as long as she isn't stomped out by dev decisions.

I neglected to bring up killer identity in the video because I wanted to come at this strictly from a game balance POV, and I feel like identity vs balance is it's own discussion to have. Also, when it comes to games, people will ALWAYS try to optimize and min/max to get the best chance of winning. That's just how people are, and it is on the developers to develop the game with this in mind. I forget exactly where I heard this, but there is truth to it.

Yes people try to make games that should be casual way too competitive but the devs are tending to balance in this direction. I'm not saying the game can't be competitive but we should be fine with casual elements from time to time.

The only problem with putting her unique ability in the background, and focusing on her ambush, is that shes kinda just a bad chucky or blight. Shes an extremely unique killer, but they are essentially going to remove her from the game, and she'll be just a chucky playstyle by the end of it

There's a whole discussion to be had about identity vs gameplay balance. This video was made strictly talking about the balance side of things. But at least in my opinion, to maintain her identity and the identity of the Saw franchise, she would pretty much need to remain on the weaker side. But hey, maybe there's a middle ground that I'm not thinking of.

@LoonVtuber I'm ok with her not being strong, not every killer needs to be a certain power level, I think there's room to for some to be below average, but unique. Also I just feel the buffing the dash, and putting the other part of her power in the background, just makes her to similar to chucky. The part of her that's fun isn't the dash, to anyone who plays her regularly, it's the traps and the macro game. Yes it can make tunneling easier, but any stronger killer can tunnel even easier, especially blight and nurse, with no add ons. I personally have no Interest in playing her now, I played 1 game, and it just felt so horrible, to have no knowledge on where my boxes were, it has a huge impact on your options. It felt so bad, like she was almost a different killer. Hell I'd literally be happy of they cut the dash entirely, extended the time the trap timers, gave me 2 more traps, and just made the stealth better. I could care less about the dash myself

@typervader if you foucs on the dash, she does, both have to be in stealth, move slow, make noise when they use the dash, and have a dash, they even have to be in stealth to dash, plus they are both short, for pig to use her dash. Yes there is differences, but making her dash the most important part of her kit, makes her more similar to chucky, very objectively

I dont get why so many people want the box auras back, whats even the point. Not seeing auras cause 'it makes it easier to know where survivors are' I mean sure...but the point is to ignore them with traps on.

Different people will obviously have different opinions, but mine is that once a survivor has removed the trap, (and thus is done wasting time) you can have a basic idea of where they should be. Also, if a killer like Wesker can get killer instinct from the spray uses, I wouldn't think it unreasonable for a killer at Pig's power level to get some level of extra info.

Pig should NOT be able to see her boxes so she can easily farm up 4 kills after putting 4 traps on. Games already killer sided though so mine as well make the change.

You've never played her. Her hats don't activate until there's a Gen done. Now she can't drop them on people in endgame collapses, and she's already RNG enough.

I cant imagine how bad a team you gotta be to each get a hat and not hide as she comes to a box while the other 3 remove and do rotations... I should do the add on which puts a hat on each player and then try to 4 man camp all at once
