Billy Craion You are right that it was recorded by many artists besides the Clark Sisters but Twinkie did write it. On any of those recordings Twinkie is still listed as the writer. Also, just as a point of reference, in an interview back in '07 with Juanita Bynum she asks them who wrote "Praying Spirit" and Karen answers that Twinkie wrote it. Sometimes writers have a song covered by another artist before they release it themselves. It is a way to maximize points (earnings) on the song itself.
