Probably the "best" quality Clarks desert boot made was... In 2015, Clarks Originals celebrated the 65th anniversary of the Desert Boot with a special ‘Made in England’ collaboration alongside NPS Shoes and the famous Charles. F Stead tannery. As the last remaining private-label footwear manufacturer in the UK, NPS Shoes was the logical choice for the Limited Edition collaboration. Manufacturing a total of 1950 pairs, each hand-numbered boot was crafted from the original Sand Cordova Velour suede featuring the distinctive orange midsole stitching. NPS then made their own version of the boot... Launched in 2019, the Wallace suede boot (part of the NPS Casual Collection) pays homage to the iconic Clarks Originals design. Featuring high quality suede, tonal stitching, waxed flat laces and a natural crepe sole, the design is available in Sand, Navy, Chocolate Brown and Amarone. Sadly Clarks are now just a name,another example of English greed and poor management.Add to the list..Bentley Motor cars,(owned by VW).Wedgewood pottery etc etc.

As with the Clark Wallabee finding most success overseas.Generally accepted I believe that the "King of cool" Steve McQueen favoured the "Playboy Chukka" boots made in England by Hutton in Northampton.Wore a pair in the film Bullitt as well as being photographed wearing a pair away from filming. Unfortunately the same old story...Hutton closed down in 1990.The "Playboy" name became the property of a Danish company but the Hutton name still belonged to the original family.Hutton now produce the "Playtime" chukka and Desert boots.The boots are not made in England.I do not believe KZbin appreciates direct links,but huttonboots have a website.
