Felicitaciones por el registro fotográfico. Uno de mis buques favoritos que tuvo nuestra Armada. Estilizada línea y moderno sistema de armas en su época.

Fascinating innovations bu Marconi and the UK export board in the fire control and radar, appears essentially two half one channel 275 for DP Blue and Red for the main armament and a Marconc eport surface 992 target indicator and LRW sets.

interesting to know the opinion of Chiles officers and men as to whether this gun should have beenused again on Chiles later Leander and County purchases. In reality this Chilean pair of Armadas and the three turret Battles built for Venuezuela are the Royal Navys last destroyer designs built to test the concept an for the RN and UK government to take and seize if WW3 or major conflict had seeemd imminent of started in a slower moving more conventional form than predicted. The Australian Daring DDs in their rebuilt form with that magnificent large op room - would even with the original renewed armament and the new operatons room and Dutch M22 fire control and radar should have survived to the Falkalnds era ( Vampire did in a reduced sensor form as a training cruiser). Fraser as PM would have had neither the inclination or nouse to offer them of course, but. He was nto that exciting or romantic a slighly slower Turnbull/ Bligh infact.

The nearest thing ever built to RN Cruiser Destroyer which the RN and Churchill believed should have been the core of the RN fleet post war with about 50 4500 light / 5500 ton armed fueled and loaded displacement. The 3300 ton light weight of these Chilean destroyers is about what the RN Battles and Darings should have displaced with the extra displacement giving space for a better LR AW and AD processing room requiring say 30 more crew. The auto 4 inch Vickers N5 offering about 45rpm is probably the best DP gun with real 60s AA potential ever deceloped by the Rn and probably should have been on the County DDgs when built and quite possibly the full fit of these Chilean Destroyers 4 x 4inch auto and 6 X1 L70 should have armed HMS Superb and HMS Swiftsure allowing the refit of the two Swiftsurest to be completed probably giving a better cruiser than the Tigers in the Chilean DDs there is only a150 shell/charge magazine for eacb gun but with a shell of 33lb and charge of say 17-30lb to give a total 50/66lb with capacity of say 400 in each magazine in a Tiger ./ Swiftsure it would be close to full capacity- in a converson of HMS Swiftsure , Possibly a couple of the original twin 4s/ 2 l70s and 2 twin MK 5 /40mm would have allowed a lot of the existing UK/ Rn ammo stocks and all controlled by 4 MRS 8 local M56 radars which oould have combined those local AA/ CIWs systems.
