A year later and this had me in tears with its haunting beauty. Lest we forget, Jazz can do this too. Gorgeous work everyone. Eva Fernandez has such sensitivity, such heart in her playing. She contributes to Rita's latest album, itself something of a high art concept album, though of such variety all are welcomed in. Please, Rita, for the next one of your sumptuous tunes, perfect it with Eva's soprano sax.

Now and then a piece of music can move me to tears, this one and especially Eva Fernandez' playing, so soulful is definitely one such example. The guy who said it was a piece of art, nailed it. Thank you all.

Cuando leí Valparaiso casi me infarto, aca en Chile nuestro puerto principal lleva ese nombre y por un momento crei que estaban acá , imaginar que nos visitaban las "joyas de la corona" cualquiera se infarta. Pude reconocer allí a las hermanas Armengou, Andrea,Eva,Rita, Alba Esteban,Carla, en fin todas maravillosas , gracias por tanto arte.

Listened to again and again..it's more than interesting. The returning crescendi and decrescendi are like waves on the sea..the trumpet/clarinet solo strinkingly beautiful. The improvisations convincing examples of integration in Christine's composition. Eva's sopranosax. solo sovereign. Frankly, I didn't expect anything else from her...

Eva is the undisputed queen of the soprano sax. And, yes, she and her pals had great material to work with.

Getting unlazy, I discovered that the other fine sax (and clarinet) soloist is Cristina Miguel. Shouldn't surprise us that composer Christine Jensen is also a saxophonist.

Stan Kenton's jazz orchestra also used several crescendos often. These fine young musicians should feel proud of what they have pulled off. What can be said about Eva Fernandez on soprano sax? Her solo at the ending is a work of art.

The composer Christine Jensen is a Canadian saxophonist and a former bandleader of her own Christine Jensen Jazz Orchestra. Her sister Ingrid, a trumpeter is a member of the all-woman jazz group Artemis, on Blue Note.

The drummer is certainly different, but what she does is so unique, and it fits this arrangement perfectly. I wish that I could find out more about her on wikipedia.

She is such an important aspect of this soundscape. The surge and crash of the surf just beautifully realised. I kept puzzling why is it so restless, almost random at times, then Oh!!! Its the sea! D'Oh! More than any, she paints a seascape.

This is really good stuff. Whole lotta talent up there. KZbin's algorithms certainly failed me on this front. I've been waiting for this music since I saw the promo. I have five of the band members bookmarked. And, a full eight months later, it shows up on my menu which has been inundated with Hate-TV crap that I have specifically asked not to be included. Yeah, they're worth the wait, but, damn, I feel cheated.

This is wonderful for many reasons. For many reasons this is outstanding, the individual players are at new highs, the original score (arranging} is in tact and it sounds good too; not that it should matter, all of the performers are women. Finally, my bias for the Sant Andreu Jazz Band delights in seven of "our girls" growing up in size and talent to play with such a talented group. Alba E. opens and winds it down with her baritone sax. Elsa M. has a featured duet with that great reed player from the home band and Eva F. does many featured minutes on her alto sax. Yes, I am very proud of the SAJB Seven.

Eva Fernandez... Just sayin' KZbin hates me. Has kept this wonderful piece from me despite it presses all my musical buttons. Still it must have realised it had tormented me enough. The jewel in this beautifully decorated composition was that sax solo. Melodic, lyrical, delightful and consummately and cleverly delivered. Was this when Rita met Alba Pujals and set up the "twin slides" concert? Did I mention Eva Fernandez?

Wow, I'm late to the party, but better late than never -- this is great! A wonderful job by all here, but Eva's performance on the sax shows why I always thought her the best sax player in the SAJB. (I realize that's highly subjective, of course, and I don't mean any disrespect to the *many* fine sax players -- both past and current -- of the band) I thought the drummer, Lucía Martínez, was also very good, I'm going to keep an eye out for her. I'll definitely be looking for more performances by this fine group.

Overcoming the obstacles put forth by various religious knuckleheads I see the whole band is wearing trousers, no skirts or dresses. It took years before women could wear what they want. Fine music produced by the estrogen factory.

Great music during the pandemic. But isn't that extremely dangerous, playing all these saxophones, trumpets und trombones without wearing a mask? Unfortunately, only one of these musicians has survived, namely the drummeress. All the others succumbed to the dire consequences of their blatant disregard of government security regulations.
