So happy for you- my daughter got hers when she was 18 in Alberta and I have made sure she never let's it go. She hasn't used it in 17 years but you never let a class 1 expire in Alberta. I was smacking my head when you moved to Alberta and let your AZ/Class 1 expire. It's your money ticket!!

When I retired in 2010 I held a Class 3 with Air Brake endorsement out here in British Columbia. I kept it for about 3 years but as you say Sergei it costs you to keep it plus the medicals etc. My doctor told me to be sure before you let it go as it’s hard to get it back. I realized I would not ever need it again so I downgraded it to a Class 5 but the Air Brake endorsement never expires.

When my daughter was 25 and working for a company as an HR for a year, she was offered a $45K contract and she was not happy with it. One morning while I was driving her to work, she got a phone call. After she hang up, she told me another company she did 2 interviews with just offered her a $63K contract. She asked me for advice. I did not give her any advice. I just told her I am on her side whatever she decides no matter how it plays out. When I picked her up in the afternoon, she told me she accepted the new job and gave a 2-week notice to her current job. She is making $119K now at same company with full benefits.

Quick question? Why don't you get a job as manager? Where you can plan,dispatch, and other functions in that role, for a smaller company. Don't be emotional about business. Nobody cares about you. You are supposed to care about yourself. You did your best for that company that hired you and they escorted you out like a criminal. Every business is like that - they look after the bottom line. If they are not making profit off you, you wouldn't be there for another more hour. So, if you think you can better somewhere else, that is where you should be. You should not be worrying about hurting the feelings of a business. Business have no feelings. Didn't you ever hear "No offence, please. It is business, nothing personal."? If you don't get that at 62, you will never get it. If you get a better opportunity, go for it.

nope, it's still 23 bucks an hour, but they promised me a review after 3 months, and if that goes well, I'll be making a whopping TWENTY FOUR DOLLARS an hour!!! Man, I hope Revenue Agency doesn't come after me thinking these crazy wages have something to do with illegal trades ;)

Congratulations... Do let your employer know about your upgrade... er reinstatement. Please don't consider jumping over to another job. Grass not always greener on the other side. Your employer close to your home which is very nice. They gave you a chance so hang on for a year or so and see how it goes.
