What I learnt Thermal expansion is the expansion of the substances due to rise in temperature. It happens due to the Thermal agitation, which is vibration of particles inside due to high intramolecular forces and it changes the shape of the substancem

Sir, I'm a student of class 11th and I'm confused which chapter should I do first from your videos. When I start a new chapter after a topic I realise that this topic is related to a different chapter which I didn't studied yet. So I'm kindly requesting you to send me a sequence of chapters, and which chapter should i start first.

Booster classes if anyone watch once then its notes are sufficient to revise for those who are aspiring for high ranks in JEE... No need to watch these classes again and again... if you are not aspiring for top 100 or higher ranks then these classes are not needed...

There are substances like some polymers that *contract due to increase in temperature*... *why* ? this doesn't seem to fit into the logic of vibrating particles... also, coefficients of expansions can be -ve also right?
@physicsgalaxyworld8 жыл бұрын
Reason is due to molecular chemistry... not to be covered here... and in this case we cannot take α negative as material structure changes on heating when it contracts...
@bios5468 жыл бұрын
would that imply on expansion, the material would be different?
@physicsgalaxyworld8 жыл бұрын
Yes if a polymer is heated, due to internal reaction polymer chains undergo changes due to which it contracts that means after contracting the chemical structure of the material is not same as it was before heating...
@TechPlanetOfficial6 жыл бұрын
SaiKrishna KVMB This is because the transition vibration of particles is more and dominant than longitudinal vibration in some substances which actually contract when heated.

the cause of thermal expansion is not thermal agitation or vibration but the real cause of thermal expansion is asymmetry in the potential energy curve...!
@kingpatil28824 жыл бұрын
so you are saying that due to the curve being asymmetrical expansion occours, wtf? The curve is plotted when the phenomenon occurs, how is it possible that you plot the curve and then explain the phenomenon. Asymmetry in the curve is one of the consequence due to thermal expansion.
