Easier way: -(x-1)²+10 =(x-1)²≥0 (as square is always positive) Then multiply the "-" on both side: =-(x-1)²≤0 (sign gets changed) Then add 10 as given in the question =-(x-1)²+10≤0 =-(x-1)²≤10 This f(x) is smaller than 10 :.Maximum value=10 Minimum=not defined
