Hello, I hope you will see this. I really enjoyed this video and will watch this again for my next class. We are doing 2nd class cavity right now and it’s so hard :( My biggest problem is the overhangs of the proximal boxes and hitting the neighbouring teeth because I have to remove the enamel wall.... We use these metal things between the teeth but my bur is cutting through them very often when I try to reach these impossible places. They only provide us with a explorer and a mirror to work with. I’ve seen so many tutorials using hatches to remove the enamel wall but I don’t have access to that and it’s not allowed to use other instruments during class :( You mentioned that a explorer can be used, can you please explain how? Or did I misunderstand? I would really appreciate it if you could reply because this cavity is so hard to do and it’s really making me depressed and makes me doubt myself in my abilities :(

Take a chill pill! This cavity can be mastered only after a lot of practice. You will reach there eventually. Your problems can be solved if you practise making the proximal box by maintaining a thin enamel wall till the cutting is complete of the Proxima ditch. Explorer can be used to break off the thin enamel wall in the end. Because by the time you’re finished that enamel wall is extremely thin and fragile and can be easily broken off by an explorer. All this will take practice in time. By the way which dental college are you studying in ?
