In every case of conjunction and combustion, the degrees btw the planets have to be checked independently first from Sun and then from the other planets to understand their impact and influence. In very few cases both Venus and Mercury are within the combustible degree, i.e 5 and 3 respectively, In that case both the lordships of Mercury and Venus have to considered weak. If the planets are retrograde then the whole thing changes. A retro Mercury which is combust acts entirely differently to that of a normal Mercury which is deeply combust.

Hello I’m not sure but you might wanna check something called Venus cazimi, I think that’s when venus is so closely conjunct the sun. If it’s what you have , from what I’ve seen , luck seems to come so easily to people with this aspect.

I consider Venus within 5 degrees from Sun as combust and here in this case it is 16 degrees from Sun and certainly has no influence of Sun over it.

But Sir, I thought the degrees of the retrograde planets are calculated in reverse, as in they are calculated after deducting them from 30 ..... so here the actual degree of the retrograde Venus is 22 (30-8) , isn't it ?? The distance between a planet and Sun is calculated in the forward direction and here as per your info Venus is at 8 degrees and Sun is at 24 degrees and the distance between them is 16 degrees. right?

Okay, lets consider this case of yours. Let us assume that Venus had moved over the sign for 15 degrees and then became retro and came to the point of 8 degrees at the time of the natives birth. Should we now consider the Venus degree from 0 (starting of the sign) to 8 degrees (degree at the time of birth) or 15 (extent of its movement in the sign before becoming retrograde) - 8 degrees or 30 (full span of the sign) - 8 degrees ?? Now, about how I consider a planet and its avastha (state) and its movement at the time of birth, which is recorded in a natives chart ..... In this case I will consider the placement of Venus at 8 degrees in the sign and count it from the 0th degree of the sign (i.e from the start of the sign in a clockwise direction). But, when it comes to yogas (combinations) Venus will have with other planets, I consider the direction it is facing (or moving), as it has a lot of bearing on the event and its intensity. Here, I use the methodology of Tajik. I use the Orb of influence of a planet and much more to understand if it is inimically placed, neutrally or beneficially placed. I think, this suffices your query.
