God! It looks like a wildlife park! When I worked there in the 70s as a secondman it looked like a proper depot.

That's crazy seeing all those 60s rotting away.

Great Video of the 60s around Toton T.M.D - But again it's just really disappointing that all of them 60s are just sitting there rusting away

I see the odd colas tug on the drax power station train passing Ashton-under-Lyne Station! Good video of the class 60 graveyard 😎

How many million pound did it cost to make all these locomotives to leave them to drop! I bet they ain't even paid for themselves yet the short decade they was in service sadly! I was expecting a few to be in preservation by now.

I’ve no idea why these are not front line traction ? They are heavy haulers, only out done by the 59s & 70s in tractive effort.

No pun intended, but I don't think that they have a very good track record...

I don't know why db don't sell them off cheap at scrap value as what use are they sat there many ain't moved since around 2002-4 i got told! Surely there's work for these locos either in the UK or abroad as what a waste of money as they was barely worn in before they got condemned to a life a prison yard.

Q Many videos show rows of trains rusting away . Is it to costly to scrap them if not needed , ?
@wasted-blaster.2 жыл бұрын
I assume there for spares or repairs to be sold as and when maybe?.
@james1232122 жыл бұрын
they are spares sources, also with many of these being stored in the early 2000s id bet on the unwillingness to just scrap them being an effect of the regulator criticising EWS in 1999 for scrapping lots of Serviceable Ex-BR Locos instead of offering them for second hand purchase by other operators

Can’t see them working again all the main Generator Windings will be earthed out from the damp and the Engines have probably had parts robbed off, privatisation, the gift that just keeps on giving.

Why?? We’re the 60’s unreliable? They certainly aren’t underpowered. What a waste.

I guess it's cheaper to buy a new one instead of repairing the old ones.

What a shame those quite new class 60s are rotting away 😢 I bet Ed Burkhardt of EWS wanted US made machines…….🤔 Shame they couldn’t be recycled like the class 56s and not didn’t millions on new locomotives 🙄 I can remember train spotting at Toton in the 70s and seeing the class 44s in the scrap line 🙁 But the yard was alive with action in and a round the yard and I remember the large signal box where I sat opposite train spotting after coming from Manchester on my trusted Honda CB 250 😆

He wanted to run a railway. Sadly, those potentials were never met. However, Burkardt did attempt to cancel some of the Class 66 orders. Now, we also see Class 66s stored elsewhere on site and in France.

What a waste, shame on DB Schenker for either not scrapping them or reusing them, must hurt older railway staff to see this, mind you anything with DB in its name is a bit of a poisoned chalice, i work for Arriva its bus division that has been up for sale since God knows when.
