Good news she has been preserved unlike quite a few of her sisters. Sadly just as a static exhibit. I got to drive the entire class ,thousands of miles on each one. My records indicate I last got to drive 131 to Edinburgh in Spring 2020.

@@typhoon-7 I only ever went to Bounds Green once Mike. We drove down from Wigan to fit a Wheel skate on a DMU. Unfortunately it was under the Wires and they couldn`t give us an isolation of the overheads and they couldn`t move the unit because of Transmission problems, we drove all the way back to Wigan without so much as getting a Jack out. Such is life 👍

Im only 16 right now and have only just realised these were being put out of service which i find very sad because i grew up around these trains watching them pull into york railway station i always prefered these ones to the 43s because I liked the more square shaped design. So glad they have been put into preservation it makes me feel a bit old lol.

As others have said, its all down to the cost of a rail move that would have included an Ultrasonic axle test ( UAT ) and a Fitness To Run ( FTR ) exam. Thanks for commenting.

Its not small. This is the first transport company who have had problems entering. We have had many vehicle moves via this entrance over the last ten years. One of these was filmed for the "Train Truckers" series on Channel 4 or 5 when the Battery train arrived. Thanks for your comment Barrie.

This is the trouble with electrics - It's hard to keep them in operational condition unless you have OLE which lets face it, no preserved railways is going to bother with. Too expensive and too much H&S faff. That said, I would MUCH rather see them being preserved as exhibits than being scrapped - That has been physically painful to watch! I have so many happy memories of trips on the ECML behind these roaring beasts. I realise things change and times move on but, what with the end of HSTs as well, with the mk4 sets also soon to bow out it really does feel like the end of an era on the East Coast.

I wonder why they have to use a lorry to bring it into the museum. Even though the heritage railway is connected to the Edinburgh Waverly Glasgow Queen Street via Falkirk High line and ECML. For the Class 91 run light from Depot to Edinburgh Waverly and the junction of Bo'ness railway

The lunacy of moving a train by road in the UK never fails to amaze me. I don't think they do this in France, Germany or Japan......so why here??? Old trains or ones to be scrapped should ALWAYS be moved by rail. There are no exceptions.

I dont like class 91 should have just stuck to proper locos non of this electric rubbish just give me a proper loco like a Deltic or any of the EE locos like class 50 or 37.
