class b chopper is typically used for the regenerative braking of dc motors, so the source here shown in the load side is the emf generated during the braking of motor. during the braking of dc motor, it temporary works a dc generator pumps generated emf back to source. this kink of chopper principle is widely used in modern EV VEHICLES and electrical locomotives.
