Late comment I know, but I'd like to add that yes it is random but with 5 trees to go down and 3 options presented at each level, you can pretty much control the build if you just make up your mind early what to omit. E.g. I usually build my psionics in one of two ways: 1) Front line blaster Avoid: Soul Steal + Fuse (pick Fuse on Master level, no sooner) Role: Direct damage, Psi offense is not really important, typically high mobility 15+ to get into position for a Null Lance when Phase Walk is on cooldown. Typical equipment is a shotgun, talon rounds, nanoscale vest and ablative. These guys use Soulfire, Null Lance and Phase Walk/shotgun to the face to deliver guaranteed damage every round of combat. I usually add Fuse last to top it off. 2) Back line controller Avoid: Fortress+Phase Walk, pick Fuse, Soul Steal, Domination & Void Rift as soon as they show up Role: Controlling the battlefield from behind with Void Rift, Domination and the odd Null Lance. If they have decent aim a rifle can be useful, otherwise the make alright officers. They need a neurowhip but all other equipment depends on the situation. The front line build can't really fail since the skill branches selected don't branch out. You will always get the same seven skills (if you want to). The back line build can, with extremely bad luck, miss out on Void Rift or Domination but not both. You could probably argue that the back line controller is simply a better build, but where's the fun in having them all identical? ;)

in my experience soul storm destroys only (some) cover of enemies inside the circle, so if you teleport to cover that isnt shared with an enemy you are safe. with alien amp the damage is pretty substantial. still, a very situational skill

Phase Walk is too good to pass up imho. Even if you don't want to pick up Soulstorm, the utility it gives your soldier is amazing.

Really tried to see what you recommend, couldn't really, I thought I listened. Perhaps you can clarify what you like here. You say Fuse, then probably also Solace and Domination, Phase Walk you talk about a lot but no opinion, and then sorta say you don't have to take some others. Compared to you other videos this was really like stream of conciousness ....
