I just noticed you started with the class II checklist. Here in Montana fishing country I swear we see more boating related deaths on our Class I Missouri & Bitteroot rivers than all of MT's whitewater put together. Missouri deaths occur from flukey situations where anglers find themselves out of the boat in the river but then due to cold temperatures and no preparation drown due to exposure. The Bitteroot is a typical class I killer because of braided channels and log jams gallore. If it could reach the right audience a video on the topic of class I boating & river dangers could save lives.

Yes I absolutely agree. Most river fatalities occur because of improper clothing, no PFD, and and/or alcohol.

It's good to hear a guy who could talk well over heads without trying talk to said heads without sounding like he's trying.

What about including whistle signals to the River Signals? A lot of Newbies don't know about whistles at all.

I tell new people when swimming to not stand up till you can sit on your butt without the current moving you. Basically means 6-8 inches of water... not perfect but it basically gets the point across about avoiding foot entrapment.
