Classic British Rail - Darlington Station in July 1991

We see a few trains through Darlington Station on a summers day in July 1991 including 5 locos running light and 3 Class 47's doing a bit of a shunt after the rear loco couldn't be started to head down to Thornaby!

Well after the amount of time he had spent unsuccessfully trying to start the loco on the other end, I guess he was getting a bit fed up by then!

Yes I seem to remember they couldn't start the one on the back hence why they had to do the shunt! Made for some entertainment!

0:35 nice catch of FIVE light engines, one of them still in BR blue! 1:12 the livery on the first engine looks nice! 2:50 looks like this was the place for light engines! 3:47 I've never seen a class 91 NOT on the ECML before! 5:56 that HST motor is rather loud! 7:20 nice rev-up sound! Nice video! Very different than today's British Trains!

That was because the driver was unable to start the loco on the rear to head down to Thornaby so they ran around the loco off the front!

May be the duffs were off to Tinsley for repair ?
