The AMC Pacer was and is STILL (now as a retro classic) one of my dream cars!!
@johnhiram120710 жыл бұрын
My Dad had one and what a junk it was. The door broke, was rusted in 2 years and even the dealer could not fix the overdrive. It got 16 MPG !! Fun car to drive though I admit.

Honestly I think most people would rather have a 1967 Ford Mustang, 1970 Dodge Challenger, or 1976 Cadillac Eldorado over a 2019 Honda Accord, Toyota Prius, Nissan Sentra, or Chevrolet Volt. But maybe that's just me.

Vincent Macek my Bronco is still going strong after 500,000 miles. It’s an exception to the rust rule that ate most Ford and Toyota trucks. If they had made the bodies as good as the engines. The Toyota I had previously the bed literally fell off of it from the rust, but the engine was still strong.i know this is an old post, but WTH.

The blacked-out headlights on the cartoon cars pouring across the ocean are sinister but accurate; there are plenty of pics of new import cars at dockside with their headlight holes covered in kraft paper, sometimes black. In the days of mandatory sealed-beam headlights in the US but after they were obsolete elsewhere, they'd be installed dockside or by the dealer.

Eight years ago, I sat in the drivers' sear of a 1966-67 MG Midget at a car show. Since then I've had water in my knee. There's no way I'd even try a Honda Civic, or a Nissan Versa. Actually, I found more room in the Versa and even that was too small for me.
@jeff1586er8 жыл бұрын
We had that Honda 600 sedan. It would only go 77 on the level but with 10 inch tires you didn't have to slow down for the turns. We got stoned and put 6 of us in it and went 60 miles or so to see an Irish band. When went to go home we'd sobered up, could hardly figure out how to fit in and turned the wrong way for miles. We had trouble with high school kids picking it up and putting it on the sidewalk. Our first child was conceived in it at the Drive In. I could just reach out with my right hand to crank up the passenger window. It cost $1545 brand new. When I had to special order the small tires I had to change them myself like bike tires in the driveway. I was proud to get a ticket for going 93 down a mountain on the PA Turnpike. A month later a piston broke and I had to order parts from Japan and put them in myself, I'm not a mechanic. When I got it fixed the clutch wore out so I sold it to a guy at work with only 39000 miles on it. Thirty years later I found out my new foreman at work was the son of the guy I sold it to that had never fixed it and he'd cleaned out the garage when his parents were out of town and it'd been in the junk yard for decades till they scrapped it out. That little piece of crap car was the coolest ride I've ever had.

I know their are a lot of good Toyotas now. However, the family first Toyota was junk. It was a 76 Carolla station wagon. At 50,000 miles water pump. They made several, but ours far away. We ended up bringing the 1954 Chevy Bel Aire out of retirement. Then the starter and other stuff. Rebuilt the engine at 100,000 miles. At a 150,000 carbon monoxide got into the interior. No one could find it. My guess the light weight body letting it in. Finally sold it to someone that wanted the engine. My Dads 1968 Ford F100 is still on the road

🇯🇵Japenese cars are the best in the world. The old cars from 70 ies, are still on the road. Their are reliable, beautiful, indestructible, save fuel.
@ciphercode22983 жыл бұрын
Depends on where you live I guess. I had a 75 datsun pickup that ran decent, but was a rusted out shell and the seat was nothing but a pile of springs covered in duct tape. My brother had a chevy luv that was just as rusty,but wasnt that reliable. It left him walking a few times. His frame rusted through and you couldn't haul anything in the bed for the holes. Theres alot more American cars from that era that survived than Japanese cars. I dont have anything against them. They were cheap disposable rides that were good for 5 or 6 years. The roadsalt around here killed them pretty quick though.

Lee Iacocca was a JOKE at Chryser in the 80's. My dad traded our RELIABLE 71 Dodge Dart Swinger on one of the supposed NEW Chrysler products... a stupid FWD 79 Dodge 024 and then traded that in on an 85 Plymouth Horizon. Thanks, Lee... for memories of being woken up EARLY in the morning everytime Dad was getting ready to go to work... by the WHINY, loud POS starters in those FWD Chryslers. Who needed an alarm clock back then? LMAO
