The WR was primarily a desert and playbike hence the big tank. My 81/82 IT/YZ 465 in a 490 chassis and fork with YZ465 rear suspension works very well. The IT bottom end had a bigger flywheel, milder ignition timing and a true wide ratio gearbox. A low first with a 90 mph top and enough power so that it did not even notice the gaps. A big tank is needed for obvious reasons, mine is 4.2. The bike is now restored just this way and I don`t care that it is not stock, it`s mine. I rode this bike until a few years ago when I just got too old to ride it, I got my dream Yamaha. Newer bikes came and went. Love what you do Chris.

Simple squish band modification and re jetting made them run like a champ. Porting would unleash more power and turn this into a CR eater if your arms could take it.

There not very common in running condition anyways most are sent to the graveyard so if yours is in decent condition you have a gem
