Synopsis: The Doctor and his friends Ben, Polly and Jamie arrive at Gatwick airport. They quickly stumble upon an alien plot, centring upon the mysterious 'Chameleon Tours' - a low-price holiday company, whose young passengers have been vanishing in unexplained circumstances.

Pauline Collins who plays Samanatha in this serial was considered for the role of the next companion but the actress declined as she didn't want to commit to a long-running series she did however appear in Doctor Who again in 2006 as as different character as Queen Victoria in one of the David Tennant episodes "Tooth and Claw". Ben and Polly's farewell scene was pre-recorded as actors Michael Craze and Anneke Wills contract was up by Episode 2 but returned just to do this scene. When Patrick Troughton first came into the role of the Doctor for me I immediately warmed up to him by his first episode "The Power of the Daleks" while I'll always appreciate William Hartnell because he's the original and was the one that started it all The Second Doctor (Patrick Troughton) was the first Doctor we all know and love about the character today.

This is a good story and the animation isn’t bad. It was co-written by Malcolm Hulke (his first contribution to Doctor Who) and he would go on to co-write the second Doctor’s final story before writing on his own during the third Doctor’s era (writing one story per season). Fun fact No. 1: The actress playing Jean Rock, the Commandant’s PA, is played by Wanda Ventham, and she is the mother of actor Benedict Cumberbatch! This was her first Doctor Who story and she would go on to make 2 further appearances in the show. One in the 1970s and one in the 1980s. Fun fact No. 2: The actress playing Samantha is Pauline Collins. She came back to Doctor Who in 2006, some 40 years later, in the episode Tooth and Claw where she played Queen Victoria.

Sam Briggs would have been an awesome companion. She’s given a better character in her only appearance than bloody Dodo was across season 3.

Nice to see Classic Who back. Michael Craze and Anneke Wills’ contracts were due to be expired around episode 2 of the next serial, but they had originally planned to just let Michael Craze go, because they felt that Jamie was becoming a more popular character, and Frazer Hines and Patrick Troughton were already becoming closer as a duo. They did ask Anneke if she would be willing to stay on, but she decided to leave with Michael, stating that they came into the show together, so they should leave the show together. Samantha was considered as a replacement for Ben and Polly, but Pauline Collins didn’t want to commit to a series, so she turned the offer down.
