Few things to note here... - Jimmie winning the 7th was such a fun watch for me personally because I remember him winning his forst race. - Carl had the title ripped from his grasp with such a needless caution. NASCAR just wanted chaos to boost "excitement". - Damn Homestead was a great venue to hold the title race. Pheonix just doesn't hold up to Miami.

Every time I watch this I get so excited and teary-eyed watching Jimmie win his 7th championship. He is the driver I looked up to as a child, and even now as I'm turning 18 Nov 9th. I will never stop looking up to him as a driver. It's sad to see him retire, however it's been a very, very long, but impressive run for Jimmie Johnson. A wise man once said "Don't cry cause it ended, smile because it happened" and I couldn't apply a better quote to Jimmie's NASCAR career. Jimmie, I doubt you're reading this, but in the slight chance that you are, thank you. Thank you for making my childhood and teenage years amazing. You are not only one of the best drivers in NASCAR, but you are a hero to many, many people. I can't wait to see what the future has in store for you, the 3rd ever 7 time champion in NASCAR history.

Watching this over 5 years later still causes me to shed tears. It was hard enough on that day, but his retirement in the following January made it that much harder, knowing that this was it for my favorite driver. Damn, what a class act he was... There won't ever be a driver like him. Even though I've been to a handful of races in the last couple of years, my love for NASCAR has never been as high as 2016. Quite a bit of it died once he stepped away. After 2017 passed, I did gain quite a bit back, but it just won't ever be as high. I really couldn't tell you much about 2017. 2016 was a good year overall, I loved the High Horsepower and Low Downforce. It really made the drivers work. I think NASCAR's decision to reverse that for 2017 played a role in Edwards' departure. He was very vocal about his love for Low Downforce to put it into the drivers' hands. I hope he's enjoying life with his family though, because that's what actually matters. He left healthy and with enough money to live a happy life without being in the public eye. Much Respect to him!!!

Damn, all the comments saying Johnson didn't deserve the championship (ofc there are some that say he does), you cant be talentless and win 83 races. You can't be talentless and win every year for over a decade. You can not take a driver championship's for winning under the format in place at the time. You can not deny the effort and hardwork for a title. The man who won his 7th title in 2016, was the only rookie to lead in the point standings, has won 11 times at Dover, 9 times at Martinsville, 4 wins at the Brickyard, and 2 Daytona 500 trophies to his name. The team, the crew, the driver all stepped up when they needed it. All of his championships are deserved period.

"Streamed live": Did NASCAR finally start to broadcast their races to a worldwide audience now?
@bobjkohneSenf8 жыл бұрын
No, thats how they did it all the time I believe. They stream it so they don't have to upload a 5 hour video, sadly the streams aren't open to the public :(

Also to note Jimmie Johnson/Chad Knaus went on to the championship for a seventh time as Kyle Larson was runner up to him that night in the 42 car at CGR as who was Johnsons race engineer for the title in ‘16? Answer Cliff Daniels who’s Larson’s defending champion crew chief presently.

I watched this race last year know that somehow someway Jimmie Johnson would become a 7x NASCAR racing Champion, but I've always wondered how on earth he recovered from the wreck at Dover International Raceway.
