this should have been a free event. why would i spend nearly $50 to get in just to go and pay even more to buy stuff. this hurts the vendors too because they lose out on sales when the event is gated

There’s much more to this event than just the vendors. There are bands playing video game music and they are amazing! For example, the stellar Descendants of Erdrick youtube.com/@descendantsoferdrick who absolutely killed. There are game tournaments going on constantly at no additional charge. There are tons of console, computer, arcade, and pinballs games to play, all set to free play. And there are lots of panel discussions and meet-and-greet opportunities with people like Nolan Bushnell, David Crane, Brian Colin, Dan Kitchen, and Garry Kitchen. Plus it’s just a lot of fun seeing so many vendors in one place, whether you are buying or not.

@@zachcollierDitto, even though the vendors and shops are just the meat & potatoes of the event for me. So far I got Sonic CD (US), two Animal Crossing guide books, a Sega Genesis Game Genie along with a loose copy of Columns. They did have a panel upstairs but I was WAYY too focused on taking as many pictures as possible.
