Pro tip: Corner with tapping the shoulder buttons. It removes a lot of that horrible slow understeer sliding and also you often take out a lot of competitors. It will improve your laptimes significantly!

Seriously great game. I really liked GX but for whatever reason there was something about it that didn't quite recapture the magic of X for me. I'd actually love it if we got a game like GX but with some of the style of X, in terms of the comic book stuff and also the music.

This is probably my favourite N64 game of all time. I loved Goldeneye and WCW Revenge and I put a tonne of hours into Top Gear Rally & Duke Nukem 64 but this one was always special.

Top 3 game from the 5th Gen imo, one of the very few, if not the ONLY premiere 64 game to run at a solid 60fps and play timelessly. Excellent classic, only surpassed by its mighty successor GX on the GC. You could argue that the track selection may overall be better here, and air flight it undoubtedly better too, but superior driving mechanics, handling, sense of speed and story missions make GX the best overall, but man they're both so spectacular that it doesn't matter at all. Lastly I wouldn't say that F-Zero and Wipeout aren't similar at all, they actually play completely differently. Both represent the pinnacle of the genre though.

Love the game, love the review (as always). But don't forget to use Z and R buttons to help turn. It will make your life so much easier. This game is hard as nails to begin with, but not using the full controls makes it impossible.

One of my favorite video game soundtrack of all time! I thought the N64 version did it best too. Never owned an N64 but would buy just to play this game original. Always feel the analog sticks arent mapped like the original systems in emulators so I get the feeling it takes away the experience the designers originally intended.

Something quite evil about this game is, when you kill an opponent you hear some childish/happy xylophone, and a star appears at the top of the screen. And if you get 5 stars (kill 5 opponents) in one race you win one life. Haha

Sure those graphics look kubistic,blurry with muddy rainbow banding colors, has little backgrounds and special effects and the music & sounds effects sounding really muffed,but that's because nintendo had to deal with limited cartride space and 4KB of ram for textures. So for it's time it was a blast compared with the snes game but looking at it now feels so lifeless, can't help.
