I love how Mark pays more attention in his reviews to how fun the game is than how good the story is. No one should get this game for the story, they should get it because the campaign missions themselves are fun, and the multiplayer is huge and varied and active and awesome. That said, I do really wish Guerilla Games tried harder on the story and characters, because it can get a little distracting at times. I actually really liked the stories of Killzone 2 and 3, and the backstory and setting are pretty interesting and full of potential.

It's a really fun, really great game but it's not Killzone 2 as that was the best one in my opinion but you might think differently and that's ok because all the Killzone games are pretty damn fun.

I also like that Mark is one of the only reviewers who goes into depth on a games sound design. Sound is such an important part of any video based media and video games are no exception.

Eipok Kruden I'm on Chapter 7 of this game. Gameplay wise, it's very fun. As a matter of fact I'm digging it more than KZ2 and KZ3. Story is a bit bleh, but like you said, no one should get Killzone: Shadow Fall for its story because it's so fun.

I liked the premise but the story just doesn't wasn't fleshed out enough. It's set up in a pseudo cold war ish way which I thought was cool but the characters turned out to be flat.

As long as we're being honest about the PS4... I liked Knack. Sure, it got repetitive in some spots. But it looks fantastic, there's lots of secrets and collectables, it told a brisk story that clopped along at a good pace and kept me interested until the end, and there was no loading, screen-tearing, or glitches. It was a well-polished game. Repetitive, sure, but polished. I thought it was a pretty alright game. A solid 7.5 in my book.

The best review I've seen of this game yet; very nice job Mark! I get sick of game reviewers who expect games like this to have the characters and plot of a Shakespeare novel. It's an FPS for cryin' out loud! Just enjoy the shooting action and the graphics.

back in the days of playing perfect dark on the N64 we had something similar to that sonar thingie. it was an xray alien gun that tracked the enemies behind walls and could 1 shot everything from 1000ft,it was cool as hell but it had low ammo and was only available for 1 mission.

Imagine a killzone tactical shooter where you play as an elite helghast squad doing shadow operations during the invasion of helghan. Like brothers in arms tactical/rainbow six style gameplay.I get sick of seeing helghast soldiers mowed down endlessly because of their shotty AI. It would be a spin off worth playing imo.

The closest thing to that is Killzone Mercenary for the Vita. There's a couple levels where you (sort-of) help out the Helghast and actually get to fight ISA.

I actually haven't played a Kill Zone game (don't hurt me). Was seriously considering getting the one for the Vita as I don't have a FPS for it yet. But I do have #2 on the PS3, might play that first to see if I like the series.

Killzone 2 is solid, 3 is gorgeous but pretty much feels like a sequel bait without the sequel, I hear similar problems with shadowfall and especially I hear that the game gets really repetitive after the first 2 or so but the first 2 hours are very good.

Don't listen to StopFear, the Killzone Mercenary on Vita is amazing and one of the best game you can get on a portable system. The multiplayer is solid, the campaign is great and the control are really easy to get used to, this game is a MUST. Plus, it is on sale this week on the PS Store

Game started out well,but the story and the set pieces really took a nose dive after the second half. I'm pretty sure it was rushed out to meet the PS4 launch. Still a stunning game to look at. Some levels really look almost photo-realistic.

Its only early days yet, Very few consoles have amazing launch titles, I always wait for the second crop of games before making my mind up with new consoles. Launch titles are almost always a bit "meh".

Seeing how this game is and after hearing the feedback on it I have to say that this game is good as a launch title. You know being one of the first games on ps4 and showing what the console is capable of. It's kind of like resistance when the ps3 came out. It wasn't too bad of a game. I would just like to point out that yes there was a plot and I recommend paying attention. While still not the best story in the world it's certainly superior to what Killzone has given us before as well and definitely alot better than what Ghosts and Battlefield 4 had on offer, and it's especially helped by looking for the secrets which give you audio logs to listen to, dossiers to look at, as well as newspapers and comics to read. Just a heads up to anyone else who may jump into this one not paying attention to the narrative because it's a Killzone game.

I think Killzone dropped the ball in not making the PS Vita and PS4 Killzone games interact with each other. Unlock things in the other games when playing Killzone Mercenary and Killzone Shadow Fall and achieving different objectives or uncovering different things. Like the 2006 PS2 SOCOM: U.S. Navy SEALs Combined Assault would interact with the PSP SOCOM Fireteam Bravo 2 released at the same time.

I just don't think there are any good games I really want on either console. Their biggest launch titles are FPS #9184 and QTE: Rome. I'm sure I'll get a PS4 when the new Uncharted comes out, though.

Well you're wrong. Killzone is amazing fun. I haven't played an FPS that was this much fun in single player since Crysis 1, and the best MP FPS I've played before this was Killzone 3 and this is better. Warframe is an awesome co-op game with great combat, cool environments, and it's free. Blacklight Retribution is an extremely fun FPS high paced, and free shooter. Plus, BF4, CoD, and AC 4 are absolute trash on last gen compared to their PS4 versions. Not to mention, if you really don't think PS4 is gonna be getting some killer games you're an idiot. Consoles last 7 years sometimes, not a couple months. Get it for the great games it has now, the better experience it has than last gen, and especially get it for the countless amazing games that are coming to it over its lifespan.

Personally I thought that the main character Kellan and Echo were great characters. Especially Echo. She was really interesting and she's hot (in real life especially). Sinclair though was as one dimensional as fuck. Same with Tyran. You don't get to see much of Visari's daughter or Stahl's son but they seemed a little less one dimensional. I thought the story was great and it's at least the best in the series but I don't know, maybe I'm biased because I'm having so much fun playing the game. I think this is easily the best game at launch and the best game in the series.

Shadowfall was quite bland, when compared to the earlier games. But I think this franchise needs to continue. There is a lot of potential. Also, I want the next Killzone game to have Splitscreen again and I hope we play the story as Helghast.

willbelasco Everyone else focuses too much on multiplayer, so I'm glad he reviews the way he does. Mark has always been about single-player before multiplayer. It's something about CGR that I appreciate. There is a sizable number of gamers who never touch the multiplayer and play them game like we've played games for years. Also, he has stated numerous times that he is terrible at multiplayer and he reviews the games the way he plays them. Again, that's something I appreciate because like I mentioned, most reviewer (especially "corporate reviews") spend too much time on multiplayer and leave single-player as an afterthought. Overall, what I appreciate the most is whether or not the game is fun to play (in the pop in it and start playing sense) and less about features, graphics, presentation, polish, etc. I want to know what makes it fun for the average person.

Im gonna have to disagree I really enjoy the way he does it. Me personally, I rarely touch multiplayer. I tend to make my purchase decisions on the single player. But I understand that if you really enjoy multiplayer I can agree that you would want it to more in focus.
