Mark, since you enjoyed this game, I recommend you try out the PS2 game called "War of the Monsters". It was released in 2003 and definitely resembles "King of the Monsters" in gameplay and concept. Thanks for another great review.

Both King Of the Monsters 1 and 2 were for the Genesis as well, if you didn't already know this.

Nice review. Been revisiting this game thanks to the Neo Geo X. This is a game that doesn't have the best reputation these days as it is a bit unforgiving to new players. I still enjoy it even when the CPU smashes me, but there is a method to this game and I got pretty good at it once I figured things out. Definitely a very cool early Neo Geo game.

The exact words that popped into my mind when I saw the title of this review. I bought WotM for PS2 only a few weeks ago, didn't like it at all, but if Mark can enjoy the old KotM games he'll probably love the WotM.

I just got the Wii version of this game a couple of days ago. I bought the PSP version brand new but hated the screen size. I got it on PS2 a while back brand new for $10, but never played it due to having so many other SNK games. I got the Wii version used 40% off due to the fact SNK games cost $9 a piece on the Wii. I also recently bought King of the Monsters 1 for SNES for $2.

Me and my brother beaten the entire game in coop also thrased each other in vs mode on the SNK collection for the Wii. This should be ported on all systems.

Fond memories of this or the sequel on Genesis with one of my friends. I remember when had no idea how to actually play so we just buttonmashed our way through it which led to a lot of grappling. And thus the phrase I will always remember him for "Stop huggin' on me!"
