I just saw this game listed on eBay for $1500. I'm fortunate enough to have bought it back when it was new for $200, and I still have it, it's the first version with the green controller buttons. Seeing that listing caused me to look it up on KZbin. I really want to play it again. Also, playing with a surround sound system was amazing.

had this game for my x-box. Once you got through the campaign it was tough tomfind on-line matches because only a handful of players actually shelled out the $250 for the package. Great idea but it priced itself out of the range for the "casual" mech game players. For the money I think Mechassault 2 was the best bang for the buck mech game.

Got this game when it first came out and did not get very far with it but not for the reason you might think and something you might want to point out unless you already pointed it out with the controller review: you need a good place to set up the controller and a seat of equal height - now way you can lounge on your bed to play this beast! Otherwise I do not regret getting this at all. Mine has the original green lights on the controller and the second version had blue lights like the one you have. Hope to try it again. Enjoyable video too by the way!

I believed they did made a sequel. Unfortunately it was an Xbox exclusive, but even more unfortunate is that they switched the unique controller with the Kinect. Since that machine isn't capable of precise control; Capcom basically fuck it up. What's even worse is that I fear this franchise is dead, because of that bad move. Unless Capcom is currently making a reboot, or Microsoft is buying the franchise (even though the odds are extremely low). This is what I consider a dead franchise which is sad since think the opportunity for Microsoft to use this as an exclusive, but no. What's even more sad is that some people like me will never ever play this as there is no new Steel Battalion coming for the Xbox One or any other platforms. Maybe there is a chance if someone at Kick Starter made a Steel Battalion-like game, but the odds are still against us my friend.

Not that I remember.....I have never been past level three though so there might be. Its not an easy game to master thats for sure......it also has a ton of buttons to master and learn. Some people are now modding them for PC games also so thats pretty cool do a search.

I remember wanting this so bad but couldn't justify the 250$ price tag. Then i found a used one in like 2004-5 for 85 bucks and picked it up. I still haven't at my parents somewhere. The game was super hard, i remember not being able to get passed the 3rd of 4th mission where you had to fight a giant battleship because you would just get wrecked everytime. Also if you took turns too fast you'd fall over. I know there's ways to to use it with a PC but i never found the time to do it.

I keep thinking that, if they ever made a Megas XLR game, it would be the only other game to make use of the Steel Batallion controller. Along with a steering wheel controller, two Atari joysticks, two Nintendo controllers, three SNES controllers, a Genesis controller, a PlayStation DualShock attached to the steering wheel, two Atari paddles, a DDR pad, a complete Rock Band controller set, . . .

I regret ever trading steel battalion in. The learning curve was massive but victory sweeter. It took 2 years to beat it and still learned things to do. Best detailed controls those peddles were meaty

looks fun, i bet it would be cool to play in a specialized arcade type setup like he describes at the end that the owner of the controller has. it sucks that this is the only game you can play with the controller though. there was a sequel that used the controller but it was online only, no single player mode was available, and the online service was shut down the year after it was released lol

Breed LG I believe some VR Headsets like the HTC Vive include a camera on the front of the device so they could have an In-Game view of the Controller if you were to look down wearing the VR Headset so you know where all the buttons are.

Yeah I heard about that, but I feel like the immersion you get from VR by having no sight of the area around you is it's selling point. And by adding a camera in your gameplay to see the controls is kinda, eh... Unless they develop something that won't need to occupy your perspective in game. Where the camera on the headset detects the controller and your hands, and basically transmit it in game. That would be awesome.

I dont think this would work well with occulus rift for the reason that you need to be able to see the controller (which would be near impossible to memorize) but with a bigger tv and a good pair of headphones? Ooooooh man

Sadly, unless you use your keyboard to bullshit your way into mapping the controls on an OG Xbox Emulator such as CXBX-Reloaded or Xemu, the only way to REALLY play this game properly is with this hulking controller.

It is a shame the kinect sucks so much. There is a version of Steel Battalion on the kinect that would be awesome if the damn kinect actually worked. Maybe if they combined it with a controller like this it would had worked.

I was BITTERLY disappointed with this game... The controller makes you think it's going to be some kind of epic mech simulator. And then you start to play.... It's so arcadey the only thing it's missing is a "BOING" sound when you jump..

When you beat the game you get the ability to jump. However I still dig it, however the Multiplayer mode is god tier.
