This game is the best mario game i have yet to play, the classic 2D mario gameplay (especially SMB 1 and 3 and a hint of the GBA game SML) mixed with SMB64 and SM Galaxy! This game is a MASTERPIECE.

Super mario 3d land was my furst and favorite 3ds game ! Got my 3ds back in 2013 and even in 2015 i keep replaying 3d land its so colorfull and smooth and just great !

Not had a 3DS before but this Christmas I bought a New *New* 3DS XL for my daughter. This game is indeed the best for it in our collection so far and I was transported back in time to my immersive Gameboy days!

For this game it doesn't really matter. The new games take advantage of the new controls but that's it. The other improvements are nifty, but not much more than that.

@cuicnoh2 You see that pyramid in the background? It's actually an illusion using tricky perspective; with 3D enabled, you can tell that the two middle blocks are really in front of the other blocks, closer to the camera. Stepping on that eye panel makes the camera rotate and reveals the illusion.

The most fun I've had with a Mario platformer since Super Mario 64! I hope they add some DLC with things in the way of some classic Super Mario music and maybe an assortment of levels from some classic Mario games with 3D Land's gfx. Great game from start to finish! Also you can already play classic Mario Bros. on the 3DS as long as you are a Nintendo Ambassador since its included in the free Super Mario World 2 GBA! While not 3D, it does have nice gfx enhancements.

@lemonystuff Not in 3D Mario games, no. 3D Mario is a separate series. There was always a run button in Classic, 2D Mario, not in 3D. This is the first 3D Mario with a run button.

@TranceCore3 There's actually some interesting psychological and technological reasons why a lot of people think that. The old cartridge games could only play one chord at a time to make their music, which sticks in your brain much easier than 'complete' music. That doesn't mean the new music is bad, but it doesn't cement in your brain like the old school music.

The 3DS isn't just a newer version of a DS with 3D capacities, it's actually the next console in line. 3DS games can't be played on any DS system for the same reason that Wii games can't be played on GameCube consoles. If Mario 3 is your favorite though, you'll love this one; it has so many cues to previous games, ESPECIALLY Mario 3!

yes its a remake, but if you look at where the characters are, Yoshi is on top of the castle at the beginning of the game(this is where he is when you beat the original game with 120 stars, also we know that Bowser likes to make Mario go through the same levels again, but harder, just in this case its more stars. If you don't see it as that, than Super Mario Sunshine is the sequel(it supposed to take place after the events of SM64

I am a COD fan as well. There is a time for a fast paced FPS game and then there is a time to play a game with a slower pace. Something calming right before you go to bed. Damn i need to get a 3DS and this game. Re-releasing the old N64 games on the 3DS not too bad of an idea. This game reminds me of Super Mario 64.

Very glad to see someone agree. I'm literally wearing Wii boxers right now and have gamed primarily on Nintendo game systems before, but I'm NOT going to continue to be a generation behind. Mike Capps of Epic Games has confirmed that the Wii U can't handle Unreal Engine 4 and the Tekken producer has said that the Wii U processor is weaker than the PS3 or 360s' processors. Just like the Wii, it's a generation behind. This time they don't get my dollar vote. They need to learn humility first.

Well the screen is bigger witch is a great change the 3 buttons of start select and home are actual buttons the stylus is changed to the normal position it has a 4 gb memory card instead of 2 gb.

This game is good, but i have some problems about it: - The power-ups are your health. - Countdown timer. (i want to enjoy the levels I'm playing on, not rush to the end) - The star coins are both hidden and a requirement to continue. It wouldn't be a problem, if it weren't for the timer. If i am supposed to search for star-coins, i dont want that timer.

@ABlackFalcon I think that most (what is it? 8? 10? 12?) of the Virtual Boy line-up should be ported to the 3DS...in one cart. We don't need Nester's Funky Bowling, that 3-D Tetris or Water World. But, the VB did have a few gems that deserve a second chance, like Mario Clash, Red Alert and the Wario one.

The price varies from location and the paticular worth of that item. Nintendo games even the ds ones are worth more than twenty dollars. Mostly because first party nintendo games have a good brand. 3DS games being more than twenty bucks probably varies on it's release date which is still fairly new so nothing will seriously depreciate for a the rest of this year. This was a launch game so it's possible he got it on sale at the time of post (reward members are offered sales frequently).

I love this game, it's probably my favorite Mario game of all time. It's just ridiculous how many free men they give you. I started the game over and I'm on world 6, I haven't gone through a single level more than once (unless I died and had to) and haven't been trying to collect extra lives or anything like that and I have like 60 lives. On my old game I had around 400. The worlds weren't really themed either, and the special levels use a lot of the same maps. Awesome gameplay though!

@clunette Depends what you call "classic" , time goes on and on and on. A bunch of newcomers might call anything with PS2 "classic" ; while others at least show at a NES ; while even others go back to Atari and what not. I for myself consider SNES "classic" and it had a crap ton on pretty awesome games that i recommend, however, theirs really a giant amount of really good games anyone "should" have played, and i get shocked by a bunch fo TOP 1000 lists by real gems i have never seen.
