you are a great teacher!!! thank you so much. It is wonderful to have everything explained so clearly and precisely even if you have sewn for years (like 50 years!!) I love it. I am currently remaking my grandson's room over, and I enjoyed this refresher course.. Greetings from British Columbia, Canada

This is a wonderful video, thank you! I’ve done quite a bit of home dec sewing over the years but haven’t tried a bed skirt…now I will. A little tip for gathering that I learned several years ago…..use colored dental floss to zigzag over. Works like a charm; easy to see, very strong, and cheap!

Thanks! Yes I do know about the dental floss trick and that works great for smaller projects but it’s way less expensive to use strong upholstery thread when you sew as much as I do!

Thanks for the tutorial! I'm actually trying to make a topper for my canopy bed, but I think this will do nicely. I wanted it to match my bed curtains and be light blocking... wish me luck! 😬

Great tutorial. Just got a new (old) metal bed and I've always wanted a full skirt. Wasn't sure whether to make just a frill and attach all the way around the edge or make a full 'deck' one like yours. We call that a 'platform valance' in the UK. Now to decide which fabric I'll use. I have tons of curtain material.

Okay so once I do those Roman shades I am finally going to make the bed skirt. I have had written instructions for …decades but I was to chicken to make it Incase I really did not understand what I was supposed to do. It is just a lot of fabric to potentially screw up. Thank you!!!!

Great video. I found that if you make the skirt exactly the length from the bed base edge to the floor, it will end up hanging about an inch off the floor, as all the pleating make it ride up, if that makes sense. So if you want the skirt to touch the floor, I would make it about an inch too long.

Yes it does take up some! How much depends on fullness, stiffness, and thickness, as well as how accurate one is with the seam allowance 😊

Hi, I don't see that link that shows the difference between gathered fullness. Can you post it?

Why cant you just feed an elastic through the top and gather it ?
@ASquarePillowIsntSquare2 жыл бұрын
Elastic is neither easy or practical when trying to gather large amounts of heavier weight fabrics.
