I found some more clips of our off road adventures. The last clip shows the damage that ended it's life prematurely.

Tried that in my ‘00 CR-V once. Wound up getting towed home with a broken drive axle. Fun times

I'm a guy who only drives 1st gen CR-V's.... You are absolutely banished from this awesome vehicle.
@ANNEBOYD236 жыл бұрын
I almost want to go get another one just cause you said not too:)
@7daze4326 жыл бұрын
Do it...! Get the 98' model - dark green - something under 180k. Mint ones are still out there for sale. Your banishment will be lifted if you find one with a working dash clock.

This vehicle was built for snow use and regular everyday driving. Not going over ruts, inside holes or over rocks. Actually it's one of the best Snow vehicle with the right tires

For a stock crv gen1 it is ok to off road but not good. But if you like projects you can turn this car into a very good off road vehicle. Several of my friends’ take their V’s to Colorado every year and they preform really good even comparing to the jeeps.

Yep. My wife was hit by a F150. The driver was under the influence of something. He hit the SUV behind her also and kept going. If it weren't for him we would still be driving it today.

Did they ever catch the driver that did that hit/run? I'm glad you and your partner were ok.

I love my CRV but it just does NOT have the proper AWD system for serious off roading. Even Subaru is better
@ANNEBOYD236 жыл бұрын
+Marvin Too true. It's either on or off for the rear wheels. An LSD in the front and rear would help.
@Jason999426 жыл бұрын
Yeah but most of us, including myself wouldn't do anything more serious than what you showed in this video. That was impressive and to think that the new CRV's awd is slightly improved is encouraging. Plus with Subaru's excessive oil consumption issues still prevalent in 2017/2018 models, it's hard to think about buying a Subaru.

This. The 1st and 2nd gen CR-Vs are lovely, practical cars. But they are *not* heavy duty offroaders. Have a bit of fun on the beach but respect it for what it is, and don't ask more than they can do.
@Greenredfield6 жыл бұрын
LMLMD what makes the 1st and 2nd gen better than newer models?
@lmlmd27146 жыл бұрын
Greenredfield - The newer generations are much more "car like" - without even the pretence of an off-road ability - the ground clearence is significantly better in gen1/gen2 cars than newer models, and air intakes and the likes were more sensibly placed etc. Also the "boxy" shape and *very* practical interior with things like collapse centre consoles make it a more useful and versatile vehicle. Hoping to get one of my own for road trips :)

@ANNEBOYD238 жыл бұрын
+Shadownet It is if you want it to be
@sleeksilver8 жыл бұрын
The CR-V has never been made with a V6, your CR-V has either a K20 or K24 depending on where you are located.
@rayfadhilbassamfaisal36628 жыл бұрын
Crv with a V6?? it must be a joke right??😂😂😂
@wtrdogg208 жыл бұрын
If you have a Honda SUV with a V6 engine, it must be a Pilot, not a CR-V. If you have a CR-V it is definetly not a V6.
@lmlmd27146 жыл бұрын
Define off-road. A few dirt tracks, some hard sand, and gnetle, shallow water (def. no more than 20cm or so) and if you're sensible she'll be fine. If you go beyond that, she may cope at first, but you'll be setting yourself up for a lot of expensive grief later on. If you wan't a simlar size/age real off roader that's small engined and affordable then go for the 2nd gen 5 door Suzuki Vitara. Very similar size and economy, but with a bit more power and a *very* capable real 4WD system with low range. Not as throughtfully laid out inside (no table in the boot and no clever collapsible centre console - for shame!) but they are very capable off road, albeit not as refined on road. Avoid the Land Rover Freelander 1st gen which again is a vaguely similar size and power. It's less capable than the Vitara (though more capable than the CRV) but it was built from a Junior Meccano set - the build quality is just plain atrocious.

A little puff of blue smoke at 2:27....?
@ANNEBOYD237 жыл бұрын
+Dylan Davis Yes. That was not the original engine. It came out of a 2001. The original engine broke the timing belt at 200,000. It never used any oil. Made me very sad.
@dylandavis40747 жыл бұрын
I just bought a 2001 I'll be using where I can versus my truck, and it seems these engines are very sensitive to lack of maintenance, but if taken care of, will last a long time. Nice video.
@klassenkustoms99326 жыл бұрын
Dylan Davis my crv lasted 500000 kilometres on the stock engine with maintaine ( was my dads before he passed ) and he swapped a Japanese crv engine in when the original transmission blew up cause he didn’t wanna do one then have the other go bad

The CR-V is not an off-road vehicle at all. Get a Wrangler or a V8 truck with crazy tires.

It is an AWD though!

I'd rather have a car that is useful on 99% of the roads I drive. Although I do have a Wrangler now.

CRV je terénní vůz. Není to offroad, ale dovede opravdu mnoho. Chce to jen znát jeho limity a systém pohonu. Má nižší světlou výšku a zadní pohon s malým zpožděním.
