And I also must report that as an impoverished college student suffering through a drunk hangover I accidently made a poor man's kedgeree by mixing leftover rice with a tin of kippers (smoked herring).

Cut the ginger into discs, soak it in cold water for a couple of hours and the skin come off much easier

This has never been a traditional English breakfast, it was previously an indian breakfast, but only for the well off, brits stole it and modified it into kedgeree
