Navy blue - bleu marine - is never underrated in France, we wear it a lot starting when we are babies until.... forever. It is always chic and flattering, softer than black, and as a "neutral" it looks great with any other colour. And it never ever goes out of fashion! :)

I am in the UK but totally with you on this! My base neutrals are Navy, Silver Grey, and White. I save my Black for evening dresses. I used to get my navy shoes from shopping trips to Paris as I was invariably informed that "navy isn't in fashion" ... Eventually, I could afford high end such as Choo and Blahnik who will create a custom navy for you.

Gemma - I cannot thank you enough! You have changed the way I dress. Here's the kicker. I use the items that I already have and make purchases at my local thrift shop on twenty five cent day. The shop receives many new end-of-season items from local department stores that have the tags removed. Now I buy a variety of items....bring them home and make outfits according to your guidelines. I store them together on a hanger and don't have to search my closet to assemble an outfit. Last trip I purchased a new with tags red wool blazer and 2 white blouses and black trousers. I also purchased items in oxblood color - a lambs skin jacket (used) but also new flat shoes and a new Etienne Aigner crossover bag. The cost for these 3 was just $9.00 as shoes and purses are never reduced to 25 cents. It's become like a game to find treasures to put together. The thrift shop (mission store) money goes to help people in need. (I just purchased a new home and money is very tight for me right now due to all the expenses involved.) My co-workers have noticed how much better I dress and given me many compliments on my new style. Before finding you, I had earlier tried Princess Diana's later styles like the white shirt and jeans and also Kate Middleton's outdoors look. As a elderly gentleman, I find these combinational colors can be easily adopted for use in any menswear ensembles. Mind you I wouldn’t do the animal prints or the white blazer, but the simplicity of the outfits presented are for the most part outstandingly timeless.🍾

Perfect! I don’t know why I’ve never run across your videos before , and I’m a new subscriber with quite few videos to binge on! I recently retired from teaching and want to update my wardrobe. These are just my style, but I need to buy some new things because I’ve shrunk down to 4’ 9”. When you’re 4’ 10 1/2” to start with, it’s a big deal. I lost 1.5”, too, by only age 60. But, at least I started at 5’6”, how I would love to be 5’7 or 8”! I’ve had degenerative disc disease since childhood, and surgery for it, I think that’s at least partly responsible for my shrinkage. I’ve had a bit of a complex since I found out, so I’m always lookng for comfy mid-heels, they give me more confidence.🙂

I’m also taking care of my gown son who has mold toxicity, Lyme co-infections, long Covid, and forward head posture which screwed up his nerves, and he has an excruciating headache every single day. Now, I found I have contacted sone Lyme co-infections and have to heal from those. It ain’t easy!!! 😜

I can’t even reach the back of the second shelf of the cupboards, and I can see the lights underneath the cupboards, too. Probably everything that is higher than that is dustier than heck! I’m sorry you’ve asked the back issues. I have too and I don’t know why. I’m tiny and 99 lbs. it started in high school and has continued to degenerate. My back is so awful and every vertebrae fused together on its own. No wonder I can’t do sit ups. I thought my legs were too short, but my back doesn’t move! One pain doctor said my back was “disgusting”! He was a great guy, and funny, so it wasn’t an insult. I taught high school and had to develop a big voice to command attention. I sure wouldn’t worry about your height when you’re very normal!

2 suggestions: (1) Put your top on before makeup and then put a robe on over it; (2) Put your head down as you’re putting on your top, place your fingers on the front of the neckline, and gently pull the neckline AWAY from your face as you go over your face. I do #2 and it works great!

Gemma, I love your channel! I get so much inspiration from it! I love how in every video you give options that work for different people. For instance I always get fomo and a little jealous whenever I see how you pair camel as it looks so stylish - as a fair complexion gal that color just does not flatter me. Love white and cream jeans. Some of my tops and jackets look better with white, some with cream, so I love having both options in a current style. I’m not otherwise a denim fan, I just have one nice pair of blue ones, for the unlikely event that I might have to go into a dirty, brushy area or something. I think jeans are uncomfortable and difficult to fit, so I prefer softer trousers, skirts or dresses. I enjoy re-watching your videos (now Nov. 2022), they are so timeless.
