Increasingly, government tells us what we can and can’t eat -- bans on trans-fat, happy meals, “raw” foods.
California officials raided a raw food club, and arrested clerks for selling unpasteurized milk.
Farmer Joel Salatin, author of “Everything I Want To Do Is Illegal,” explains why Americans DON’T have the freedom to choose the food they eat.
A Classic Stossel from 2012

My Grandfather had a farm when I was young. We would had fresh milk from the cows, no pasteurization, no hormones, no antibiotics. I never got sick from it neither did any of my family. Isn't it fun that we have more childhood allergies and illnesses in today's young than back in the good old days. The government does not know what is best for me and they are not here to rule me, they are appointed to a job to represent me aka they work for the people. Most have conveniently forgotten that!
@jakeryan152

Yeah like unpasteurized milk prevents kids from getting allergies. Also pasteurized milk lasts longer and prevents food born illness from forming after long periods of time like shipping. Many people live too far from farms for unpasteurized milk to be practical or safe.

All my life I had problems drinking milk - bloating, burping, sneezing, coughing, gut aches, etc. Then, at age 45, I tried whole, fresh raw milk. Not only was the taste sublime, it didn't bother me at all. I felt great after drinking it! I live in Canada and it's illegal here too. (It's legal throughout Europe.) People can smoke and drink themselves to death, or gorge themselves on junk food every day, but we're not allowed to purchase raw milk. Legally, I can drink it if I own the cow - but my back yard is a bit too small!!

Government fuxks up everything it touches. Period. Sometimes it takes a little longer but it happens EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. Remember it took over 30yrs for manufacturers to redo the simple gas can after the epa got its greedy little fingers on it. And over that period how much more fuel was spilled than ended up where it was supposed to be? I know just for myself I probably spilled several gallons worth over that period because of those stupid cans. Why should I have to rip the guts out of a brand new nozzle or buy "water can spouts" to "illegally" put them on a gas can to avoid spilling valuable fuel?

My best friend in grade school's parents had a farm and I'd help milk the cattle regularly, there is nothing better than cow's milk, warm and fresh from the teat in all honesty. I've tried drinking the stuff at the store but it tastes like milk flavored water. Another thing is fresh, hormone free, grass fed beef burgers. I made two one pound bacon cheeseburgers out of some of that stuff three days ago and it was amazing! Sadly, I ate both of them and a solid pound of cheese curds on the side dipped in ranch dressing as well lol! Can't help it though, fried unpasteurized chesse curds in homemade ranch is the best. Before pasteurization Undulant Fever sickened and killed thousands of people world wide. Drawing upon 40 years’ experience as an ecological farmer and marketer, Joel Salatin explains with humor and passion why Americans do not have the freedom to choose the food they purchase and eat. From child labor regulations to food inspection, bureaucrats provide themselves sole discretion over what food is available in the local marketplace. Their system favors industrial, global corporate food systems and discourages community-based food commerce, resulting in homogenized selection, mediocre quality, and exposure to non-organic farming practice

I know this skinny like 6'' tall 180 pound guy who is a vegan pot smoker that my brother hangs out with, guy is almost always smoking pot and eats avocado's/nuts all the time. Apparently he has been following such a lifestyle for a solid 10 years or something. The guy doesn't realize he is killing his lungs and will eventually die from not eating protein. Sure, he is buff now and healthy but protein is very important to the human body. Just the other day I ordered a grubhub from Sonic that consisted of 4 Sonic double bacon cheeseburgers, 4 cheese tots, and 3 large cheery limeades and he refused to eat his burger and tots despite me buying him and my bro one each. All hat guy ate over a 3 hour period was a fucking avocado!!!! I was cracking out the pizza rolls and ranch and he is babying an avocado!!???!! I literally think that guy is an alien.

Sure, a police officer can be a nice guy, he might be brave, he might be helpful, but you'll seldom meet a police officer who is not an enforcer for the Government. The creameries who pasteurize and process the rest of the milk ensure there are no issues with the milk. My concern would be the amount of time between milking and the product reaching the end user and how the milk was stored. I think that's why the FDA comes down on the distributors. I never thought I'd hear about Rawsome on here. My family sold raw milk cheese through Rawsome (not sure I'm spelling that right) and to stores and individuals across the nation. The FDA came and put an embargo on our cheese cooler a while later, claiming to have found listeria in a piece of our cheese that they stole from Rawsome. We fought them for two years, but eventually couldn't go on and they hauled all of our product to a landfill. We asked to be allowed to just send it to a dog food plant so it wouldn't be a complete waste, but they refused. The really bad part is that the piece of cheese they claimed to have found listeria in was a flavor and size that we never sold to Rawsome, they waited two months to test the cheese when the legal time limit was two weeks, and they couldn't find a drop of harmful contamination of any sort, even after swabbing the drains. Even we were amazed that they didn't even find anything in the drains, but it was squeaky clean. None of that mattered. They had the bigger stick, so in the end, the threw more than $250,000 worth of cheese into a landfill and forbade us from using our plant to make any more.
