The tempo in the presto is very slow, BUT it's a big advantage if you want to practice this concerto. In my case, it has helped me a lot. Another advantage is that this concerto is played in 440 Hz pitch

You can find many historic interpretations with less vibrato and by the way with crazy fast tempo. You should try resign that, IMHO this performance is the best and more authentic than modern new trend's recordings.

@CavaliarProductions As far as I can tell, it's about 30 cents sharp from A 440 MHz. That's not much, but because my Recorders are a bit flat, I was originally hearing it as a half step difference. This still seems odd, and the only conclusion I can come to is that the recorder was set at that pitch and couldn't really be adjusted, so they brought all the other instruments up to it. I'm not much of a music expert myself, so I'm sure there is a much more logical reason.

I thing they tuned their instruments with baroque tuning.
@TonyBittner112 жыл бұрын
That's because the recorder matches better with a traverso (baroque flute) rather than with a modern flute.

@CavaliarProductions That's what I thought, however, upon doing some experimenting, I found this song to be raised a half step from the written pitches. I find this mysterious, because playing this on the alto recorder seems very intuitive as long as it's not raised a half step, but alas that is not the case. Is it this recording? As F minor is a terrible key for just about every instrument and I can't imagine that it is actually the correct key of the song.

@rosten736 Yes, you are right. I fixed it. And how do you like this Telemann's concerto? And this recording? ;)
@azulyrojo8911 жыл бұрын
i dont think so tnsnamesoralong, the interpretation of ensembles like la ritirata il giardino armonico ensemble matheus etc ,are studied and was discover more and more books of interpretacion and if they play like this is because the resources they found change the interpretacion of barroque music , i told you like a musician and i play recorder since 1996 :)

sorry, but where I can find this notes? or part for flute
Do you really think composers like for example Telemann would want everyone to try to play their music the same way (the goal of historically informed performance movement)? I don't think so. Even composers played their own music other ways than written sometimes. I'm sure Telemann would be amazed by the instruments that have been made after his lifetime.

This music so performed sounds romantic music, not baroque. They don't sound bad, but they're out of context. I don't know the registration date, but it's very reminiscent of the recordings from half a century ago. Let's be clear, even with modern instruments we can make excellent baroque music, as with ancient instruments we can make bad baroque music; musical instruments are only a means, not the purpose.
@mrharpsi12 жыл бұрын
I'm playing that with my ensemble. It's a great music and much better that way than this, on the recording. :)

the music doestn't follow the recording D: i love the recording, can someone tell me which arragement is the one playing on the recording(not the one showing on the video)

Nice, but it would be much better with traversflute and recorder, they go better together.
@johanolofsson303510 жыл бұрын
To bad that the score isn't in the same key as they play in. Either they play one full step up, if they have instruments tuned in 415. Or they play one half step up if they are tuned in 440. If you want to play along there is a lot transpose to do.

(1) Who cares? It is your problem not mine. ;) (2) Where is your argument? I can't find it ;) (3) This is my upload. And the "authentic"-fans dislike my comment not others (and it will be "invisible" due to "too many negative vote". Go ahead, neither it is my problem. (4) I uploaded historic interpretations too. IMHO that is better than Il Gardino's version what is still terrible for me.
@davidmdyer838 Жыл бұрын
Il Giardino's recording is not "THE WAY" that historically oriented ensembles play, there is a huge variety, many of which I find far more attractive that the OP recording, which may have been state of the art for its time. I do appreciate their ornamentation and other touches. I have never heard a fan of period ensembles defend their playing for their "authenticity", this is a straw man used by people who attack the movement.
@MrRafaelamadeumilani12 жыл бұрын
what a fatal combination: the flute and recorder!
@DameMitHermelin9 жыл бұрын
I really do like Telemann, but a double concert for a flute and recorder is a sick idea. The intonation differences and the shrill colour of the sound are just unbearable, even in this, pretty good rendition. Although we should probably thank God, that he didn't pick a piccolo for a change.
