The pose that you say is a "guy leading his troops"? He's part of the artillery crew. He's supposed to be pulling the firing mechanism. There is a 3 man crew in this set, one loading a shell, one firing the howitzer and the third an "observer" with radio.

I grew up only knowing that Airfix 1/32 were pretty much the nicest ' big ' plastic soldiers available where I lived. The others just the made in China junk. But recently, after discovering CONTI, CTS, and these other brands, they're excellent ! I see they are also comming out of Russia, very soft but beautiful detail and poses. But, really expensive.

do your research. marx were among the best army soldiers made from 2 to 6 in scale. lido, timmee, mcp, auburn, ideal, payton were among the others. many bmc molds are recasts of marx and lido. nothing special about these knew army men since the 50's, 60's and 70's were superior as with all toys back then opposed to the cheap crap of today

CTS really stepped up their game with their newer WWII sets. The sculpts and poses on this set are particularly nice. I really appreciate that CTS primarily focused on providing a good variety of combat poses, but also included some non fighting poses as well with this set. My only pet peeve is that every US Army set always has their figures wearing the late war M-43 field jacket. The M-41 field jacket was worn more commonly by soldiers throughout most of WWII. The M-43 didn't begin to be issued to front line troops until late into 1944. But it seems that vast majority of WWII US Army toy soldier poses are overwhelmingly wearing the M-43, or are marketed as soldiers when appear to look more like US Marines wearing dungarees ie Airfix American Infantry. Nuff said. I enjoyed you presentation. Great Job. Cheers!

I used to be a fan of CTS but got fed up with everything being done in hard plastic. As for these CTS G.I. figures I had them but got rid of them. Too overdone and too expensive. Nowadays I just use Tim-mee Vietnam soldiers as WW2 soldiers, because even though the M-16 is out of place everything else fits---and Tim-mee is a lot more affordable and durable (and come in a variety of colors).

I agree, the cts vehicles are very brittle , the 50 cal machine gun easily snapped off the sherman tank and I accidentally dropped a t34 tank on yhe floor and the fender broke off.
